HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim produced one of the most dominant performances of the early 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA season, dismantling PS Karlsruhe 91-47 on the road on October 4, 2026. The 44-point margin turned a competitive league fixture into a one-sided statement, with Crailsheim controlling nearly every phase of the game and never allowing the hosts to settle into a rhythm.

From the opening tip, the Merlins looked sharper, faster, and more connected on both ends of the floor. By halftime the contest was already effectively decided, and the second half became a showcase of Crailsheim’s depth, defensive discipline, and offensive balance. For Karlsruhe, it was a night to forget in front of their home crowd, while Crailsheim left with a result that will resonate across the ProA standings.

Match Overview

The game was played in Karlsruhe, with PS Karlsruhe hosting HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim in a regular-season ProA matchup. The final score of 91-47 reflected a complete performance from the visitors, who combined efficient shooting with relentless defensive pressure.

• Fourth quarter: PS Karlsruhe 12, Crailsheim 20

At halftime, Crailsheim led 49-21. That 28-point cushion gave the Merlins full control of the game and forced Karlsruhe into chase mode far too early. The hosts managed only 21 points across the first two quarters, a reflection of Crailsheim’s intensity on the defensive end.

Key Moments and Turning Points

The first quarter established the pattern. Crailsheim pressured the ball, switched aggressively on screens, and turned Karlsruhe’s half-court possessions into rushed shots. Offensively, the Merlins shared the ball and attacked the paint with purpose. A 25-12 opening period gave them a double-digit lead, but the true separation came in the second quarter.

In that second frame, Crailsheim held PS Karlsruhe to just nine points while scoring 24 of their own. The Merlins converted turnovers into transition baskets, knocked down open perimeter looks, and repeatedly beat the Karlsruhe defense down the floor. By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the game had shifted from a competitive ProA battle into a Crailsheim clinic.

Karlsruhe showed brief signs of life in the third quarter, scoring 14 points, but Crailsheim answered every mini-run with a steady offensive possession or a defensive stop. The visitors won the third period 22-14 and entered the final ten minutes with a 71-35 advantage. From there, the Merlins’ bench players closed out the win with composure, maintaining the defensive standard and preventing any late Karlsruhe momentum.

Tactical Story

Crailsheim’s defensive game plan was the foundation of the blowout. The Merlins disrupted Karlsruhe’s pick-and-roll actions, forced difficult contested shots, and limited second-chance opportunities by controlling the defensive glass. PS Karlsruhe struggled to find any consistent offensive rhythm, managing only 47 points in 40 minutes.

On the other side, Crailsheim’s offense was balanced and efficient. The Merlins moved the ball side to side, attacked closeouts, and punished Karlsruhe inside when the defense overextended. Their transition game was particularly damaging: every long rebound or turnover seemed to become an immediate scoring chance. The result was a rare combination of high offensive output and elite defensive suppression.

Karlsruhe, meanwhile, could not match Crailsheim’s physicality. The hosts were held to single digits in the second quarter and never reached 15 points in any period. Their half-court offense stalled repeatedly, and when they did generate open looks, the shots did not fall consistently enough to threaten the visitors.

Standout Performances and Team Effort

While the scoreline was built on a collective effort, Crailsheim’s backcourt controlled the tempo from start to finish. The Merlins’ guards pushed the pace, found open teammates, and applied constant pressure on defense. Up front, Crailsheim’s interior players protected the rim, finished around the basket, and ensured Karlsruhe had few easy looks.
