Baskets Koblenz secured a dramatic 88-86 road victory over Paderborn Baskets in the 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA on October 11, 2026. The win moves Koblenz up the early-season standings and hands Paderborn a narrow home defeat in a game that came down to the final possession.

Match Overview

The game was a seesaw battle from the start, with neither team able to build a significant lead. Paderborn used their home crowd to fuel a fast start, jumping out to an early 10-point advantage behind hot shooting from their guards. Koblenz, however, weathered the storm and clawed their way back by attacking the offensive glass and getting to the free-throw line. At halftime, Paderborn held a narrow 45-43 lead. The third quarter saw Koblenz take control briefly, but Paderborn responded with a run of their own to set up a tense final period.

With under a minute to play and the score tied at 86-86, Koblenz ran a high pick-and-roll that freed their point guard for a mid-range jumper. He nailed it with 12 seconds left, giving Koblenz an 88-86 lead. Paderborn had a chance to win or tie, but a contested three-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out. The defensive stop on the final possession capped a gritty performance for the visitors, who celebrated a valuable road win.

Koblenz's ability to convert turnovers into points proved decisive. They scored 18 points off Paderborn's 14 turnovers, while Paderborn managed only 10 points off 11 Koblenz giveaways. Both teams shot well from the field, but Koblenz's 9-of-21 shooting from three-point range gave them an edge over Paderborn's 7-of-24. The rebounding battle was even, but Koblenz's 12 offensive rebounds led to crucial second-chance opportunities, especially in the fourth quarter.
