Artland Dragons secured a convincing 97-86 road win over Medi Bayreuth in the 2.Basketball Bundesliga ProA on October 18, 2026, powered by efficient three-point shooting and a dominant second-quarter run. The Dragons led for most of the night and answered every Bayreuth challenge with timely baskets.

Match Overview

Bayreuth started brightly and kept the opening quarter close, but Artland edged it 27-22. The visitors then took control in the second period, outscoring Bayreuth 23-20 to take a 50-42 halftime lead. The Dragons’ offense was firing on all cylinders, with ball movement creating open looks from the perimeter.

The third quarter was where the game slipped away from Bayreuth. Artland added 24 points while holding the hosts to 21, extending the lead to 74-63. Bayreuth made a late push in the fourth, but the Dragons matched them almost point for point to close out the 11-point victory.

Key Moments

• Artland’s 11-2 run midway through the second quarter turned a tight game into a double-digit lead.
• A pair of three-pointers early in the third quarter pushed the Dragons’ advantage to 15 and forced a Bayreuth timeout.
• Bayreuth’s 7-0 run in the fourth quarter briefly cut the deficit to single digits, but Artland responded immediately with a three-point play.
• Composed free-throw shooting in the final two minutes sealed the win for the visitors.

Tactical Story

Artland Dragons’ offense was built on quick ball reversals and aggressive drives that collapsed Bayreuth’s defense. The visitors shot the three-ball well and consistently found the open man on the weak side. Their transition game also caused problems, as Bayreuth struggled to get back on defense after missed shots.

Bayreuth had success inside, particularly in the first half, but they were unable to string together enough defensive stops. Turnovers in key moments allowed Artland to build and maintain their lead. The Dragons also controlled the tempo in the fourth quarter, slowing the game down when necessary and using the shot clock to their advantage.

Standout Players

Artland’s backcourt led the way, with their point guard scoring 26 points and dishing out several assists. The Dragons’ forwards contributed on both ends, hitting timely threes and battling on the glass. For Medi Bayreuth, the center produced a strong 22-point performance and dominated the paint at times, but the team’s perimeter defense could not contain Artland’s shooters.

Season Impact

The victory gives Artland Dragons momentum in the 2.Basketball Bundesliga ProA and highlights their ability to win on the road. Medi Bayreuth will need to improve their transition defense and three-point closeouts after conceding 97 points. The result leaves both teams with clear areas to address, but Artland will be pleased with the execution and composure shown in a demanding away fixture.
