Kirchheim Dominate Paderborn Baskets in 100-82 ProA Home Win

Kirchheim produced one of their most complete offensive performances of the 2.Basketball Bundesliga ProA season on October 18, 2026, defeating Paderborn Baskets 100-82 behind a balanced scoring effort and a decisive third-quarter surge. The home side reached the century mark with room to spare, combining efficient shooting with disciplined defense to turn a competitive first half into a comfortable victory.

Match overview

Kirchheim set the tone early with a 24-21 first quarter, then widened the gap with a 29-22 second period that sent the teams into halftime at 53-43. The decisive blow came after the break, when Kirchheim outscored Paderborn 27-18 in the third quarter to build an 80-61 advantage. Paderborn matched their hosts in the final period, 21-20, but the outcome was already settled.

• Final score: Kirchheim 100, Paderborn Baskets 82
• Halftime: Kirchheim 53, Paderborn 43
• Third quarter: Kirchheim 27, Paderborn 18
• Top scorer: Lukas Hoffmann (Kirchheim) with 22 points

How Kirchheim took control

The game turned midway through the third quarter. Leading 58-50, Kirchheim rattled off a 12-0 run that silenced Paderborn’s transition game and forced the visitors into contested jump shots. Lukas Hoffmann sparked the surge with a corner three and a fast-break assist, while Malik Carter added two aggressive drives to the rim. Paderborn called timeout, but Kirchheim’s defensive intensity did not drop.

Kirchheim’s ball movement was a constant problem for the Paderborn defense. The hosts finished with 22 assists on 36 made field goals, repeatedly finding open shooters against a Paderborn side that struggled to rotate out of help defense. Kirchheim also controlled the glass, winning the rebound battle 39-31 and converting 14 offensive rebounds into 18 second-chance points.

Standout performers

Hoffmann led Kirchheim with 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists, delivering his most complete outing of the young season. Carter added 18 points and four steals, while Jonas Seidel gave the bench a major lift with 14 points, including three three-pointers. Kirchheim’s frontcourt also made an impact, with center Timo Wagner contributing 11 points and nine rebounds while anchoring the paint defensively.

Paderborn were led by Trey Johnson’s 19 points and seven rebounds. Nils Brinkmann added 15 points, but the visitors struggled to find consistent offense outside their top two scorers. Paderborn shot 41% from the field and made just 8 of 29 attempts from beyond the arc, well below the efficiency needed to keep pace with Kirchheim’s balanced attack.

Tactical story

Kirchheim’s coaching staff mixed man-to-man and zone looks throughout the evening, disrupting Paderborn’s rhythm and forcing 15 turnovers. The hosts scored 21 points off those mistakes, often turning defense into quick offense. Offensively, Kirchheim attacked the paint first, then used kick-out passes to punish Paderborn’s collapsing defense. The result was a high-percentage shooting night and a free-throw advantage that kept the lead growing.

Paderborn’s best moments came when they played through Johnson in the mid-post and used cutters against Kirchheim’s zone. However, those stretches were too brief. When Kirchheim tightened its defense in the third quarter, Paderborn had no reliable answer.

What it means

The win gives Kirchheim an important early-season boost in the ProA standings and reinforces their home-court strength. A 100-point performance with 22 assists and a plus-8 rebounding margin is the kind of blueprint coaches want to see repeated. For Paderborn Baskets, the loss highlights the need for greater offensive balance and better defensive communication ahead of a demanding stretch in the German second division.
