Tactical Story

Both teams packed the paint and forced outside shots. Bremerhaven’s defense was particularly effective in the third quarter, holding Bochum to 13 points and forcing six turnovers. Bochum’s half-court offense struggled against Bremerhaven’s length, but they stayed in the game with timely three-point shooting and transition baskets. The hosts also defended well, limiting Bremerhaven to 38% shooting from the field. In the end, Bremerhaven’s 14-of-17 free-throw shooting was the difference, while Bochum went just 8-of-14 from the line.

The center contributed 10 points and nine rebounds, but foul trouble limited his effectiveness late. Bochum’s bench managed only nine points, while Bremerhaven’s reserves added 13.

Season Impact

The win moves Eisbaren Bremerhaven up the 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA standings and gives them confidence in close games. Their defense and rebounding travel well, which is crucial for a team with playoff aspirations. Bochum, meanwhile, will be frustrated by another narrow loss. They defended well enough to win but need to improve their late-game execution and free-throw shooting. The ProA season is long, and Bochum’s effort suggests they will be competitive, but they must learn to close out tight games.
