• Quarter scores: BG Göttingen 24-18, 23-20, 27-16, 21-20
• Final score: BG Gottingen 95, Nurnberger 74
• Key stretch: A 19-2 run to open the third quarter

Key moments

The third-quarter surge decided the game. Göttingen opened the second half with a steal-and-score, a corner three, and two transition dunks, forcing Nürnberger into an early timeout. The visitors never recovered their rhythm; their next four possessions ended in turnovers or contested misses. By the time Nürnberger found a basket, Göttingen had turned a five-point halftime lead into a 22-point advantage.

Tactical story

Göttingen’s defensive pressure was the story. The hosts forced 19 turnovers, scored 26 points off those mistakes, and held Nürnberger to 38% shooting from the field. Offensively, BG Gottingen shared the ball beautifully, finishing with 24 assists and six players in double figures. Nürnberger’s half-court offense became predictable in the second half, relying on isolated drives that met a packed paint and active help defenders.

Standout performers

Göttingen’s backcourt set the tone, with the starting point guard recording 18 points and 10 assists while hounding Nürnberger’s ball handlers for four steals. The wing forward added 17 points on efficient shooting, including three three-pointers. For Nürnberger, the power forward battled for 16 points and nine rebounds, but the team’s guards combined for just 22 points on 8-of-25 shooting.

Season impact

The win is a significant confidence boost for BG Gottingen in the ProA promotion race and reinforces their home-court advantage. Nürnberger will need to address their ball security and second-half execution after a performance that slipped away quickly. In a league where point differential and head-to-head results can matter, Göttingen’s 21-point win could prove valuable when the standings tighten later in the season.
