Match overview

Baskets Koblenz started with good energy in front of their home crowd and kept the game close early. Giessen stayed patient, moving the ball and attacking the paint when the perimeter options were contested. The visitors gradually took charge as their defense tightened and Koblenz’s shot quality dropped.

The second half belonged to Giessen. The 46ers built a double-digit lead by limiting second-chance opportunities and forcing Koblenz into difficult late-clock shots. Once the advantage was established, Giessen managed the game well and never allowed the hosts to mount a serious comeback.

Key moments

• Giessen’s defensive run in the third quarter created separation and forced Koblenz to chase the game.
• The visitors’ three-point shooting in the second half helped stretch the lead.
• Giessen’s bench maintained the intensity, keeping the margin comfortable through the final minutes.

Koblenz had brief scoring bursts but could not sustain them. The hosts struggled to find easy baskets against Giessen’s set defense, and the visitors’ rebounding control limited second-chance points.

Tactical story

Giessen’s half-court offense was built on patience and spacing. The 46ers moved the ball from side to side, attacked closeouts, and made Koblenz pay when help defense arrived late. Defensively, Giessen prioritized protecting the paint and contested perimeter shots, forcing Koblenz into a low-scoring night.

Koblenz’s best moments came when the hosts played with pace and attacked before Giessen’s defense could set. However, too many empty possessions and turnovers allowed the visitors to control the rhythm. Giessen’s ability to score in transition off those mistakes was a key factor in the 15-point win.

Standout performers

Giessen’s backcourt controlled the tempo and made timely shots, while the frontcourt provided rebounding and interior defense. The bench also played a significant role, maintaining defensive pressure and contributing points during the decisive second-half run. Koblenz’s effort was led by its interior players, but the hosts lacked enough consistent perimeter production to keep pace.
