Key Moments

The final five minutes were the difference. Beira Mar had opportunities to tie or take the lead, but Agueda’s defense held firm. A few crucial stops and a pair of timely baskets allowed the visitors to maintain control. Beira Mar kept fighting until the end, but Agueda’s composure at the free-throw line and on the defensive glass proved enough.

The third quarter was also important. Beira Mar used a stronger defensive effort to climb back into the game, but Agueda answered whenever the home side threatened to take momentum.

Tactical Story

This was a game defined by defense and rebounding. Neither team shot the ball at a high percentage, and every possession felt important. Agueda’s half-court defense was well organized, limiting Beira Mar’s clean looks and forcing contested shots. The visitors also did a good job of controlling the defensive boards, preventing too many second-chance opportunities.

Beira Mar’s best stretches came when it increased pressure and forced turnovers. The home side generated some easy points in transition, but it could not sustain that intensity long enough to overtake Agueda. In a game with so few scoring runs, every missed free throw and every empty possession carried extra weight.

Standout Performers

Agueda’s guards managed the game well, especially in the fourth quarter. They protected the ball, made smart passes, and found ways to score when the offense stalled. The team’s frontcourt also contributed important rebounds and defensive stops, helping Agueda hold off Beira Mar’s late push.

For Beira Mar W, the effort was clear from start to finish. The home side competed on the boards and forced turnovers, but it needed a few more made shots in the closing minutes. The 43-point performance reflected a tough shooting night rather than a lack of fight.

Standings and Season Context

The win gives Ginasio Clube Agueda Women an important result in Portuguese Div 3 women’s basketball and reinforces the team’s ability to win close, defensive games. For Beira Mar W, the loss is a narrow one that will sting, but the performance showed the team can compete against a disciplined opponent.
