BC Lis Ipleiria (W) produced one of their most complete performances of the Portuguese Div 3 (Women) season on 17 October 2026, dismantling Amarense (W) 72-46 in a game they controlled from the opening quarter. The 26-point margin tells the story of a night defined by defensive pressure, efficient transition scoring and a home side that never allowed its opponent to settle into a rhythm.

Match Overview

The fixture, played in front of a lively home crowd, pitted two sides with contrasting recent form against each other. BC Lis Ipleiria came in looking to consolidate their position in the upper half of the Portuguese Div 3 (W) standings, while Amarense arrived hoping to spring an upset on the road. What unfolded instead was a one-sided contest in which the hosts led from the early exchanges and steadily stretched their advantage across all four quarters.

By the final buzzer, the scoreboard read 72-46, a result that flattered Amarense little and underlined just how dominant BC Lis Ipleiria were on both ends of the floor.

How the Game Unfolded

The opening period set the tone. BC Lis Ipleiria came out with high intensity, pushing the pace in transition and forcing Amarense into rushed shots late in the shot clock. A 18-12 first quarter gave the hosts a cushion, but it was the second period that effectively decided the contest.

• First quarter: BC Lis Ipleiria 18-12 Amarense
• Second quarter: BC Lis Ipleiria 20-10 Amarense
• Third quarter: BC Lis Ipleiria 16-14 Amarense
• Fourth quarter: BC Lis Ipleiria 18-10 Amarense
• Final score: BC Lis Ipleiria 72-46 Amarense

A 20-10 second quarter blew the game open, sending the home team into the halftime break with a commanding lead. Amarense briefly found some offensive rhythm in the third, matching their hosts almost basket for basket, but they could never string together the defensive stops required to mount a serious comeback. The fourth quarter belonged entirely to BC Lis Ipleiria, who closed the game with a comfortable double-digit run that put the result beyond doubt.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch came midway through the second quarter, when BC Lis Ipleiria turned a modest lead into a double-digit advantage in the space of a few possessions. A pair of steals at the top of the key led directly to easy layups, and when Amarense tried to slow the game down with a timeout, the hosts responded with a three-pointer from the wing that sparked the home crowd.

Another momentum swing arrived early in the fourth. With Amarense hoping to chip away at the deficit, BC Lis Ipleiria opened the period with a quick 8-2 surge, effectively extinguishing any lingering hope of a comeback. From there, the final minutes were played at a comfortable tempo, with the home bench able to rotate players and manage the closing stages.

Standout Performers

BC Lis Ipleiria's success was built on balance rather than a single individual. Their backcourt controlled the tempo, repeatedly breaking the Amarense press and finding open shooters in the corners. Inside, the hosts dominated the rebounding battle, generating second-chance points and limiting Amarense to mostly contested jump shots.

For Amarense, the evening was a difficult one. Their half-court offense struggled against a compact BC Lis Ipleiria defense, and turnovers at critical moments repeatedly cut short promising possessions. Despite the scoreline, there were flashes of quality, particularly in the third quarter when their perimeter shooting briefly came alive.

Standings and Season Impact

The victory is a significant one in the context of the Portuguese Div 3 (W) table. BC Lis Ipleiria strengthen their position among the promotion-chasing pack, adding a valuable home win and a healthy points differential that could prove important when the final standings are calculated. For Amarense, the defeat leaves them searching for consistency as they look to climb away from the lower reaches of the division.

Basketball in Portugal's third tier has become increasingly competitive in recent seasons, with a number of clubs investing in youth development and women's programs. Results like this one highlight the gap that can open up between teams who execute their game plan and those who are still finding their identity.

What's Next

BC Lis Ipleiria will look to carry this momentum into their next fixture, with the coaching staff likely pleased by the defensive discipline and shared scoring load on display. Amarense, meanwhile, will return to training focused on ball security and half-court execution, knowing that the margin for error in this division is small.
