Tactical story

Offensively, Olivais attacked the gaps in Belenenses’s defense and used post touches to create open perimeter looks. Belenenses fought hard on the boards and generated extra possessions, but turnovers in key moments prevented a full comeback. Olivais’s ability to execute late in the clock was the difference.

Standout players

Olivais’s forward delivered a strong all-around performance, scoring inside and helping control the defensive glass. The team’s guards managed the pace well and made important free throws down the stretch. For Belenenses, the backcourt provided energy and scoring, while the frontcourt battled on the offensive boards. In the end, Olivais’s balance and late-game discipline outweighed Belenenses’s spirited effort.

Season impact

The win gives Olivais a valuable road result in the Portugal Women’s Div 1 standings and adds momentum to its campaign. Belenenses leaves with a narrow loss but can take encouragement from its competitiveness against a strong opponent. With the season still developing, Olivais’s ability to close out tight games could prove important in the race for positioning.
