GD Andre Soares secured a commanding 78-51 victory over Famalicense AC in Portugal Nacional 1A play on 25 October 2026, delivering one of their most complete performances of the season on home hardwood.

The final score only begins to tell the story of a game that Andre Soares controlled from the opening quarter. The hosts set the tone with energetic defense and efficient shot selection, building a lead early and never allowing Famalicense AC to settle into a rhythm. By the time the fourth quarter arrived, the result was already well in hand, but Andre Soares maintained their intensity to close out a 27-point win.

Key moments

The decisive stretch came late in the second quarter, when Andre Soares turned a single-digit lead into a comfortable cushion with a 9-0 run. Guard play was central to that burst, with quick ball movement creating open looks on the perimeter and second-chance opportunities inside. Famalicense AC called timeout, but the hosts carried the momentum into the third quarter.

Another 12-2 run early in the third period removed any lingering doubt. Andre Soares forced several turnovers and converted them into transition points, while their half-court defense limited Famalicense AC to contested jump shots. The visitors never found a consistent answer on either end.

Tactical story

Andre Soares won this game with defense and rebounding. Their pressure on the ball disrupted Famalicense AC’s entry passes, and their help rotations were sharp enough to close driving lanes without conceding easy corner threes. On the glass, the home side’s physicality created extra possessions and prevented second-chance points at the other end.

Offensively, Andre Soares played with patience. They moved the ball from side to side, attacked closeouts, and made the extra pass when Famalicense AC collapsed into the paint. The result was a balanced scoring effort that made it difficult for the visitors to key in on any single player.

Standout players

Forward Tiago Mendes led Andre Soares with 18 points and nine rebounds, controlling the interior on both ends. Guard Rui Pereira added 14 points and six assists, repeatedly breaking down Famalicense AC’s defense in pick-and-roll situations. For Famalicense AC, Andre Costa finished with 13 points, but he received limited support as the visitors struggled to generate clean looks.

Season impact

The win gives GD Andre Soares a valuable boost in the Portugal Nacional 1A standings and reinforces their reputation as a difficult team to beat at home. The margin of victory could also matter in tie-breaking scenarios later in the season. For Famalicense AC, the focus will shift to improving ball security and finding more balanced scoring before their next fixture.
