Porto continued their strong form in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol with a convincing 93–82 win over CAB Madeira, producing a composed fourth-quarter display to pull away in a game that had been tight for long periods.

Match Overview

CAB Madeira arrived with a clear game plan and executed it well in the opening half, using patient offense and accurate shooting to stay within touching distance. Porto's early lead was repeatedly trimmed as the visitors found answers from the perimeter and competed well on the offensive boards.

The second half, however, saw Porto's quality emerge. The hosts raised their defensive intensity, forced Madeira into difficult possessions and converted their own chances with greater efficiency to secure an eleven-point victory.

Key Moments

• First-half trading: Both teams shot the ball well early, with neither able to establish a decisive advantage before the break.
• Third-quarter defensive shift: Porto tightened up on the defensive end, limiting Madeira's clean looks and sparking a run that pushed the lead into double digits.
• Fourth-quarter composure: Madeira made a late push, but Porto responded with big shots and disciplined clock management to close out the win.

Tactical Story

Porto's success came from a balanced offensive approach. They attacked the paint effectively, drawing help defenders and creating open perimeter looks when Madeira collapsed. Ball movement was crisp, and the hosts consistently found the extra pass in the second half as the visitors' rotations slowed.

Defensively, Porto made the necessary adjustments after halftime, contesting shots more aggressively and reducing the easy baskets that had kept Madeira alive early. The rebounding battle, fairly even in the first half, tilted in Porto's favor after the break, limiting second-chance points at a crucial stage.

Standout Performers

Porto's leaders delivered when it mattered, controlling the tempo in the third quarter and hitting key shots in the fourth. The bench also contributed valuable energy, maintaining defensive intensity during rotations. CAB Madeira's effort was built around solid perimeter shooting and determined driving, but the visitors could not sustain their efficiency over the full forty minutes.

Season Impact

The win reinforces Porto's standing among the stronger sides in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol and adds another important home result to their record. In a league where home court is a genuine advantage, protecting it consistently is a hallmark of title-contending teams.

CAB Madeira leave with credit for a competitive display but will be frustrated by the third-quarter lapse that allowed Porto to seize control. Improved rebounding and defensive communication will be areas to address.

What's Next

Porto will aim to carry this momentum into their next league fixture, while CAB Madeira return home seeking to convert strong stretches into full-game performances.
