Key moments

The decisive phase arrived in the third quarter. Szczecin opened the second half with a focused run, forcing Lublin into difficult shots and turning several defensive stops into points at the other end. A 19-13 advantage in the period pushed the lead to 53-39, giving the hosts a cushion they never surrendered. Lublin tried to respond with pressure in the fourth, but Szczecin handled the ball calmly and made enough free throws to keep the game at arm’s length.

Lublin’s best moments came when it attacked the offensive glass and created second-chance opportunities, but those spells were too brief. Szczecin’s defensive rotations were sharp, and the hosts consistently forced Lublin into late-clock attempts.

Tactical story

This was a classic defensive win. Szczecin contested shots, protected the paint, and made Lublin work for every point. The hosts also controlled the pace, preventing Lublin from turning the game into a track meet. On offense, Szczecin relied on patient ball movement and timely cuts, rather than forcing quick shots. That approach produced a modest but efficient scoring night and, more importantly, limited Lublin’s transition chances.

The rebounding battle was another key factor. Szczecin’s frontcourt held its ground, and the guards chipped in with collective rebounding efforts. Lublin’s offense often stalled after the first action, and Szczecin’s help defenders were quick to close gaps.

Standout performers

Piotr Kowalski led Wilki Morskie Szczecin with 18 points and nine rebounds, anchoring the offense in the half court. Marcin Nowak added 14 points and six assists, while the bench provided steady minutes and defensive energy. Lublin’s Tomasz Zielinski finished with 13 points, but Szczecin’s defense made him work for every look.

What the result means

The 70-54 win gives Szczecin a valuable home result and reinforces its reputation as a team capable of winning without relying on high-powered scoring. In a league where road games are often decided by defensive discipline, this performance fits the profile of a side building toward playoff contention. Lublin, meanwhile, will look to improve its half-court execution and find more secondary scoring before the next fixture.
