Match overview

Zielona Góra’s balanced scoring and late free-throw shooting made the difference in a game that remained competitive into the final minutes. GTK stayed within reach thanks to its perimeter shooting, but the visitors answered every significant run and never allowed the hosts to complete the comeback.

Key moments

GTK opened the fourth quarter with a 5-0 burst to cut the deficit to 60-62, briefly shifting the momentum toward the home side. Zielona Góra responded immediately with a 7-0 run, restoring a 60-69 advantage and forcing GTK to chase the game again. The hosts refused to fade, trimming the gap to 70-74 with about three and a half minutes left, but Zielona Góra closed with a 10-6 run to finish the job.

Tactical story

Zielona Góra’s half-court defense and rebounding provided the foundation for the win. The visitors controlled the glass for long stretches, limited GTK’s second-chance opportunities and forced the hosts into contested shots late in the clock. GTK’s three-point shooting kept the game close, but Zielona Góra’s ability to score inside and convert at the free-throw line proved more sustainable. The visitors also shared the ball well, finishing with 19 assists and punishing GTK’s help defense with timely kick-outs.

Standout players

Bartosz Kaczmarek led Zielona Góra with 18 points and seven assists, controlling the tempo in the backcourt and making several key plays in the fourth quarter. Michał Nowak added 15 points and nine rebounds, giving the visitors a strong interior presence on both ends. For GTK, Damian Wróbel scored a game-high 21 points, while Przemysław Szymański contributed 14 points and five rebounds in a losing effort.

Season impact

The result gives Zielona Góra an important early-season road win and a useful boost in the Polska Liga Koszykówki standings. Road victories carry extra weight in a league where home-court advantage is often significant, and this performance showed the visitors can close out tight games. For GTK Gliwice, the loss is a frustrating one because the team stayed competitive for long stretches but could not find the final push. The club will look to tighten its late-game execution as the PLK schedule continues, while Zielona Góra can take confidence from a disciplined away performance.
