Dabrowa Gornicza secured a hard-fought 89-78 road victory over GTK Gliwice in the Polska Liga Koszykówki on Sunday evening. The win lifts Dabrowa Gornicza in the league standings and hands GTK Gliwice a disappointing home defeat in front of their fans.

Match Overview

The game was a tale of two contrasting styles. GTK Gliwice started brightly, using their home crowd to fuel an early 10-4 run. However, Dabrowa Gornicza quickly settled into their half-court offense, exploiting mismatches inside and knocking down timely three-pointers. By the end of the first quarter, the visitors had taken a slender 22-20 lead. The second quarter saw Dabrowa Gornicza extend their advantage behind a barrage of perimeter shooting, heading into halftime up 48-38.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter surge: Dabrowa Gornicza connected on five three-pointers in the period, turning a tight game into a double-digit lead.
• Third-quarter resilience: GTK Gliwice fought back with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to six, but Dabrowa Gornicza answered with a clutch three-point play to steady the ship.
• Fourth-quarter execution: With under five minutes remaining, Dabrowa Gornicza went on a decisive 12-2 run, capped by a fast-break dunk that silenced the home crowd.
• Free-throw battle: Dabrowa Gornicza sealed the win by hitting 9 of 10 free throws in the final two minutes.

Tactical Breakdown

Dabrowa Gornicza's offense was efficient, with excellent ball movement leading to open looks. They attacked the paint early to draw help defenders, then kicked out to shooters. Defensively, they switched between man-to-man and a 2-3 zone to disrupt GTK's rhythm. GTK Gliwice relied heavily on isolation plays and struggled to generate consistent offense against the zone. Their three-point shooting was streaky, and they were out-rebounded on the offensive glass, limiting second-chance points.

Standout Performances

Dabrowa Gornicza's leading scorer put on a clinic, finishing with a game-high 24 points, including four three-pointers. Their point guard controlled the tempo, dishing out eight assists while committing only two turnovers. GTK Gliwice's star forward fought valiantly, scoring 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds, but lacked enough support from the perimeter.

Playoff Race Implications

The victory improves Dabrowa Gornicza's position in the tightly contested Polska Liga Koszykówki playoff race, keeping them within striking distance of the top four. GTK Gliwice remains in the middle of the pack, and this home loss could prove costly as the season progresses. Both teams will need to address their inconsistencies to secure a favorable postseason seeding.
