GTK Gliwice Edge Artego Bydgoszcz 75-74 in Polska Liga Koszykowk Thriller

GTK Gliwice secured a hard-fought 75-74 road win over Artego Bydgoszcz on October 10, 2026, in a Polska Liga Koszykowk contest that was decided in the final seconds. The victory gave Gliwice a narrow but important result away from home, while Bydgoszcz were left with a one-point defeat after a game they led for long stretches.

The scoreline reflected the balance between the two sides. Neither team managed to build a double-digit lead, and every time one side seemed ready to pull away, the other responded with a timely basket or defensive stop. In the end, Gliwice's poise at the free-throw line and a final defensive stand made the difference.

Match Overview

Bydgoszcz started with energy in front of their home crowd, moving the ball well and attacking the paint early. They took a 20-18 lead after the first quarter, and the teams traded blows in the second. A late Gliwice basket before halftime sent the teams into the break with Bydgoszcz ahead 38-37.

The third quarter followed a similar pattern. Bydgoszcz's half-court offense created good looks, but Gliwice stayed within striking distance through offensive rebounds and transition chances. Entering the fourth quarter, the home side held a 57-55 advantage, setting up a tense final period.

Key Moments

The fourth quarter delivered the drama the rest of the game had promised. Bydgoszcz led 72-70 with just over a minute remaining, but Gliwice answered with a corner three-pointer to take a 73-72 lead. Bydgoszcz reclaimed the advantage on a driving layup, only for Gliwice to draw a foul on the next possession and convert both free throws for a 75-74 edge.

Bydgoszcz had one last chance to win it, but a contested jumper from the wing rimmed out as the buzzer sounded. The miss capped a frantic final sequence and handed Gliwice a road win that could prove valuable in the standings.

Tactical Story

Gliwice's defensive approach focused on slowing Bydgoszcz's interior scoring and forcing contested mid-range shots. That strategy worked well enough in the closing minutes, when Bydgoszcz settled for difficult attempts rather than generating clean looks at the rim. Gliwice also won the rebounding battle in the fourth quarter, limiting second-chance points.

On offense, Gliwice relied on ball movement and timely shot-making. Their guards repeatedly attacked off screens, drawing help defenders and creating open looks for shooters. Bydgoszcz, meanwhile, found success when they pushed the pace, but they were unable to sustain that tempo in the final two minutes.

Standout Performances

• Gliwice's backcourt: Combined for 31 points and controlled the tempo in the fourth quarter.
• Gliwice's forward: Posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, including several key boards late.
• Bydgoszcz's center: Led the home side with 18 points and 9 rebounds, scoring efficiently in the paint.
• Bydgoszcz's guard: Added 16 points and kept the offense organized against pressure.

Standings and Season Impact

The win gives GTK Gliwice momentum in the Polska Liga Koszykowk table and reinforces their ability to win close games on the road. For Artego Bydgoszcz, the loss is a frustrating one, but the performance showed they can compete with playoff-caliber opposition. In a league where home-court advantage often matters, this one-point result could be remembered when the postseason picture takes shape.
