The FEU Tamaraws produced one of their most complete performances of the Philippines University Athletic Association season, defeating the DLSU Green Archers 90–78 in a game they controlled almost from the opening tip. The 12-point margin reflected a Tamaraws side that was sharper on both ends, converting defensive stops into quick offense and answering every Green Archers run with a decisive counter.

Match Overview

UAAP basketball is famous for its intensity, and this matchup delivered the expected physicality early. Both teams traded baskets in a frantic first quarter, with DLSU's guards probing the lane and FEU responding through patient ball movement and second-chance points. The difference emerged in the middle quarters, when the Tamaraws tightened their defense and began to pull away.

By the fourth quarter, FEU had established a working margin and managed the game intelligently, using the clock and getting to the free-throw line to keep the Green Archers at arm's length.

Key Moments

• First-half closing run: FEU finished the second quarter strongly, converting turnovers into transition baskets to take momentum into the break.
• Third-quarter knockout punch: A sustained Tamaraws scoring burst pushed the lead into double digits and forced DLSU into catch-up mode.
• Late-game composure: Whenever the Green Archers cut the deficit, FEU answered with a high-percentage look or a trip to the charity stripe.

Tactical Story

The Tamaraws' success started on the defensive end. Their pressure on the perimeter disrupted DLSU's half-court sets, forcing the Green Archers into rushed shots and difficult passes. That pressure also generated the transition opportunities that FEU thrives on, turning defense into quick points before the DLSU defense could set.

On offense, FEU attacked the paint consistently, drawing help defenders and opening up kick-out three-point attempts. Their rebounding advantage on the offensive glass extended possessions and wore down the Green Archers' frontline as the game progressed.

Standout Performers

FEU's guard play set the tone, combining scoring with playmaking and controlling tempo during the crucial middle stretch of the game. The frontcourt contributed on the boards and around the rim, while the bench provided energy that kept the intensity high when the starters rested.

For DLSU, there were encouraging individual moments — aggressive drives to the basket and some timely outside shooting — but the Green Archers struggled to string together the defensive stops needed to mount a serious late comeback.

Season Impact

In the UAAP, where the standings are often separated by a single game, a 90–78 win over a traditional rival like DLSU carries significant weight. The result strengthens FEU's position in the race for a Final Four berth and reinforces the identity they have built around defense and transition scoring.

For the Green Archers, the defeat is a learning moment in a long season. Their talent is evident, but consistency on the defensive end and better execution in the half court will be the priorities as they look to climb the standings in the coming weeks.
