ADU Falcons edge DLSU Green Archers 63-60 in UAAP thriller

The ADU Falcons secured a 63-60 road victory over the DLSU Green Archers in Philippines University Athletic Association basketball on October 18, 2026, winning a tightly contested matchup at 17:30 behind timely defense and calm execution in the final minute. The result gives Adamson a valuable early statement in the UAAP season and hands De La Salle a frustrating home defeat.

Neither team managed to build a double-digit lead, and the game remained within one or two possessions for most of the second half. DLSU had chances late, but Adamson’s ability to protect the rim and force difficult shots proved decisive in a game that was always likely to be decided by small details.

The Falcons took a two-point lead after the first quarter, but DLSU responded in the second to edge ahead at halftime. Adamson’s third-quarter run changed the complexion of the game, giving the visitors a cushion they would protect through a nervy final period. The Green Archers outscored Adamson by one in the fourth, but it was not enough to overturn the deficit.

Key moments

With the game hanging in the balance in the final two minutes, Adamson came up with the defensive plays that mattered. The Falcons forced a contested three-pointer and then converted at the free-throw line to keep DLSU at arm’s length. The Green Archers cut the lead to three in the closing seconds, but their final attempt to tie the game from beyond the arc did not fall.

Adamson’s third-quarter surge was the difference. The Falcons increased their defensive pressure, contested passing lanes, and turned several DLSU possessions into rushed shots. That stretch gave them enough separation to survive a late DLSU push in front of a lively home crowd.

Tactical story

Adamson’s half-court defense was the story of the game. The Falcons limited clean looks from the perimeter and forced DLSU into difficult mid-range attempts. While the Green Archers held their own on the glass and generated second-chance opportunities, their outside shooting struggled, and those missed threes kept Adamson within reach throughout the second half.

DLSU’s interior play kept it in the contest, but the Green Archers were hurt by untimely turnovers and empty possessions in the third quarter. Adamson’s guards controlled the pace late, using ball screens to create driving lanes and drawing fouls when DLSU tried to extend the game.

Standout performers

The Falcons’ two-way guard play stood out, with steady decision-making and important stops in the closing minutes. Adamson also received a strong interior effort on the boards, limiting DLSU’s second-chance chances when the game tightened. For De La Salle, the frontcourt produced a solid outing, but the team’s perimeter shooting and late execution let it down.

In the broader UAAP standings, this is the kind of road win that can matter deeply in the Final Four race. Adamson leaves with momentum and a proven ability to close out tight games, while DLSU will look to correct its late-game offense before the next round of fixtures.
