Abra Weavers continued their impressive run in the Philippines MPBL, defeating Pasay Voyagers 81-71 in a hard-fought contest. The 10-point margin reflects a game that was competitive through the middle stretches but ultimately decided by the Weavers' composure and execution in the fourth quarter.

Match Overview

The MPBL is known for its physical, fast-paced basketball, and this matchup delivered exactly that. Abra Weavers used their home support to good effect, building a lead and then defending it with disciplined play when Pasay Voyagers threatened to close the gap.

Pasay's 71 points show they were competitive for long periods, but their inability to convert key possessions in the final minutes left them short. Abra's 81-point effort was built on steady scoring and a defensive effort that tightened as the game wore on.

Key Moments

• Tight opening: Both teams traded baskets early, with Pasay matching Abra's intensity.
• Second-half separation: Abra's run in the third quarter created breathing room and shifted momentum.
• Clutch defense: In the final minutes, the Weavers forced tough shots and controlled the rebound to preserve the win.

Tactical Story

Abra's game plan emphasized ball security and inside-out scoring. Their big men worked the post effectively, drawing defensive attention that opened room for perimeter shooters. On defense, they prioritized slowing Pasay's transition game and contesting shots without fouling.

Pasay Voyagers competed hard on the boards and found success when they could establish their half-court sets. However, they were undone by stretches of poor shot selection and turnovers at critical moments.

Standout Performers

Abra's backcourt provided poise and key baskets, while the frontcourt controlled the glass. The bench's energy, particularly on the defensive end, helped maintain the Weavers' intensity across four quarters.

For Pasay, individual efforts kept them in the contest, but the team will want more consistency from its supporting cast moving forward.

Season Impact

In the MPBL's competitive landscape, every win matters, and this result strengthens Abra Weavers' position in the standings. Pasay Voyagers will need to bounce back quickly to keep their own campaign on track.

What's Next

Abra Weavers will look to extend their form and maintain their defensive standards, while Pasay Voyagers focus on execution in the closing minutes and improving their road resilience.
