Key Moments

With 1:12 remaining, Silute tied the game at 70-70 after a driving layup and a foul. Neptunas-Akvaservis Klaipeda answered with a patient possession that ended in two free throws. On the next trip, Silute had an open look from three-point range, but the shot rimmed out. Klaipeda secured the rebound, drew another foul, and made one more free throw to push the lead to 73-70. Silute’s final desperation heave was off target, sealing the home win.

The decisive stretch was not about a single run but about small details: a charge drawn at midcourt, a contested defensive rebound, and three consecutive made free throws in the clutch. Those plays lifted Neptunas-Akvaservis Klaipeda over the line in a game that could have gone either way.

Tactical Story

Both teams prioritized half-court defense, which kept the scoring modest. Neptunas-Akvaservis Klaipeda packed the paint and forced Silute into perimeter shots. Silute finished with a lower three-point percentage, and its inability to convert open looks from the corners proved costly. Klaipeda also won the rebounding battle 37-33, limiting second-chance opportunities.

Offensively, Neptunas-Akvaservis Klaipeda attacked through pick-and-roll actions and dribble penetration. The hosts shot 19-of-22 from the free-throw line, a major advantage in such a close game. Silute was efficient inside but struggled to generate clean looks when Klaipeda switched screens and closed driving lanes late in the fourth quarter.

NKL Standings and Season Impact

This win strengthens Neptunas-Akvaservis Klaipeda’s position in the Nacionaline Krepsinio Lyga standings and adds a valuable result in what is often a tightly contested regional rivalry. Silute, meanwhile, leaves with a narrow road loss but can take encouragement from its defensive effort and rebounding presence.

In a league where home victories are essential for playoff seeding, the result could matter when the NKL table is reviewed later in the season. Neptunas-Akvaservis Klaipeda will aim to build on its late-game execution, while Silute will look to improve its perimeter shooting and close-game decision-making in the next round.
