Match Overview

Both teams came out with energy, trading baskets through a fast-paced opening quarter. Unan Managua's home crowd gave them an early lift, and their half-court offense found a rhythm behind sharp ball movement and aggressive cuts to the rim. Granada hung around through the first half, keeping the deficit within single digits and answering every Managua run with one of their own.

The third quarter looked like it might decide things early, as Unan pushed the lead to its largest margin of the night. But the Tiburones refused to go away, chipping into the advantage with perimeter shooting and transition baskets, setting up a tense finish that had the home supporters on their feet.

Key Moments

• Opening quarter: Fast tempo from both sides, with Unan Managua taking a slim lead into the second period.
• Second quarter: Granada's bench provided a spark, briefly taking the lead before Managua closed the half strongly.
• Third quarter: Managua's best stretch — a sustained run built on defensive stops and quick offense pushed the margin into double figures.
• Fourth quarter: The Tiburones clawed back to within three points in the closing minutes, but Managua's composure at the charity stripe sealed the result.

Tactical Story

Unan Managua's success came from controlling the paint. Their big men established deep position early and forced Granada to double down low, which in turn opened up cutting lanes and open looks on the perimeter. Managua's guards did an excellent job reading those doubles, swinging the ball quickly to the weak side and converting high-percentage chances.

Granada stayed in the game with three-point shooting and an up-tempo transition attack. Their guards pushed the ball off every defensive rebound, and for long stretches that pace troubled the hosts. The difference came on the defensive glass: Managua limited second-chance points in the fourth quarter and forced Granada into contested late-clock attempts when it mattered most.

Standout Players

• Unan Managua frontcourt: Anchored the interior on both ends, scoring efficiently inside and contesting shots at the rim.

• Tiburones de Granada backcourt: Led the comeback effort with timely perimeter shooting and aggressive drives.
• Granada's bench: Delivered energy and scoring support during the second-quarter push.

Season Impact

A five-point win in a game that could easily have slipped away is exactly the sort of result that shapes a Nicaraguan championship campaign. Unan Managua showed the defensive resolve and late-game composure that separates contenders from mid-table sides, and the victory adds an important head-to-head advantage against a direct rival in the standings.

For the Tiburones de Granada, the loss is frustrating but encouraging. They proved they can compete on the road against one of the stronger programs in the league, and the second-half comeback showed the resilience of their roster. If they can tighten up their defensive rebounding and cut down on empty possessions late in games, they will be a difficult opponent for anyone as the season progresses.
