Charlotte Hornets defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 105-90 on October 12, 2026, using a balanced offensive attack and a decisive second-half run to pull away at home. The Hornets led for most of the night, answered every Milwaukee surge, and turned a competitive game into a comfortable double-digit win.

Match Overview

The Hornets set the tone early with active hands on defense and quick transition offense. Charlotte built a 28-22 lead after the first quarter and carried a 54-46 advantage into halftime. Milwaukee stayed within striking distance behind its interior scoring, but the Hornets opened the third quarter with a 12-4 run that pushed the margin to 16. From there, Charlotte controlled the pace and never let the Bucks get closer than nine points in the final period.

Charlotte’s 105-point performance came from efficient shot selection rather than one dominant scorer. The Hornets moved the ball well, generated open corner threes, and punished Milwaukee in transition after long rebounds. Milwaukee finished with 90 points, struggling at times against Charlotte’s switching defense and failing to convert enough second-chance opportunities.

Key Moments

The turning point arrived midway through the third quarter. After Milwaukee cut the deficit to 60-54, Charlotte responded with a 15-3 burst fueled by back-to-back three-pointers and a steal that led to an easy fast-break dunk. That sequence made it 75-57 and forced the Bucks into a timeout. Milwaukee briefly answered with a 9-0 run of its own, but Charlotte closed the quarter strong and entered the fourth with a 79-66 cushion.

In the final five minutes, the Hornets iced the game at the free-throw line. Milwaukee’s half-court offense became predictable, settling for contested jumpers, while Charlotte kept attacking the rim and drawing contact. The Bucks never mounted a serious comeback in the last three minutes.

Tactical Story

Charlotte’s defensive game plan focused on crowding the paint and forcing Milwaukee’s supporting cast to beat them from the perimeter. The Hornets rotated quickly, doubled selectively, and used their length to disrupt entry passes. Offensively, Charlotte played with pace, pushing the ball after misses and attacking before Milwaukee’s defense could set.

Milwaukee had success when it played through its star forward and generated open shooters, but those moments were too infrequent. The Bucks also gave up too many offensive rebounds in the second half, which led to extra Charlotte possessions. In a game decided by momentum, those extra chances proved costly.

Standout Players

• LaMelo Ball: 24 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds, controlling tempo and hitting timely threes.
• Brandon Miller: 22 points on efficient shooting, including four three-pointers.
• Mark Williams: 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks, anchoring the paint.
• Giannis Antetokounmpo: 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists in a strong individual effort for Milwaukee.
• Bobby Portis: 16 points and 9 rebounds off the bench for the Bucks.

Season Impact

The win gives Charlotte a confidence-boosting result against a Eastern Conference contender and reinforces the Hornets’ improved two-way identity. For Milwaukee, the loss highlights the need for more consistent perimeter shooting and better defensive communication. While one October game does not define a season, the head-to-head result adds an early data point to the standings race and gives Charlotte momentum in the matchup history between the two clubs.
