Brooklyn Nets Dominate Charlotte Hornets 124-90 in NBA Action

The Brooklyn Nets put together a complete performance on October 7, 2026, rolling past the Charlotte Hornets 124-90 at Spectrum Center. Brooklyn never trailed after the opening minutes, building a double-digit lead in the first quarter and blowing the game open before halftime.

The result was one of the most lopsided NBA matchups of the night, with Brooklyn’s offense firing from every level and Charlotte unable to match the Nets’ pace or physicality.

Match Overview

Brooklyn entered the game looking to impose its will on both ends, and it did exactly that. The Nets moved the ball quickly, attacked closeouts, and turned Charlotte’s miscues into transition points. Charlotte, playing at home, struggled to find rhythm against Brooklyn’s length and switching defense.

By the end of the third quarter, the outcome was no longer in doubt. Brooklyn’s bench maintained the intensity in the fourth, preserving the large margin and closing out a statement win.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Brooklyn Nets 32, Charlotte Hornets 24
• Second quarter: Brooklyn Nets 35, Charlotte Hornets 22
• Third quarter: Brooklyn Nets 30, Charlotte Hornets 21
• Fourth quarter: Brooklyn Nets 27, Charlotte Hornets 23
• Final: Brooklyn Nets 124, Charlotte Hornets 90

Brooklyn led 67-46 at halftime and stretched the advantage to 97-67 after three quarters. The Nets’ 35-point second quarter was the decisive stretch, as Charlotte had no answer for Brooklyn’s perimeter shooting and rim pressure.

Key Moments

The game turned late in the first quarter when Brooklyn closed the period on a 10-2 run. That surge carried into the second, where the Nets opened with a 12-3 burst to push the lead past 20. Charlotte briefly found offense through LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, but Brooklyn answered every mini-run with a three-pointer or a fast-break dunk.

In the third quarter, Nic Claxton’s defensive presence erased several Charlotte drives, and Cam Thomas continued to score from all three levels. The Nets’ lead reached 30 points midway through the fourth, allowing both teams to empty their benches.

Tactical Story

Brooklyn’s game plan was clear: pressure the ball, switch screens, and run at every opportunity. The Nets forced Charlotte into contested jumpers and limited second-chance points. Offensively, Brooklyn generated open looks through drive-and-kick actions, finishing with a high assist total and a significant edge in three-point shooting.

Charlotte tried to play through Ball in pick-and-roll, but Brooklyn’s big men hedged aggressively and recovered well. The Hornets’ half-court offense stalled for long stretches, leading to rushed shots and transition chances for the Nets.

Standout Players

Cam Thomas led Brooklyn with 31 points, repeatedly hitting tough shots and drawing fouls. Nic Claxton added 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks, controlling the paint on both ends. Brooklyn’s bench also contributed meaningful minutes, extending the lead in the second and fourth quarters.

For Charlotte, LaMelo Ball finished with 22 points and 8 assists, while Brandon Miller added 17 points. However, the Hornets struggled with efficiency, and their supporting cast was held well below normal production.

What the Result Means

Brooklyn will view the win as a blueprint for its defensive identity, while Charlotte must address its half-court execution and rebounding. The head-to-head result gives Brooklyn early confidence in the Eastern Conference race and adds another lopsided chapter to the recent series between the two teams.
