Szedeak 77, PHOENIX-MT Fot 71 — Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A

Szedeak Grind Out Home Victory

Szedeak edged past PHOENIX-MT Fot 77–71 in a hard-fought Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A contest, using a late surge and some timely defensive stops to secure a valuable home win. Unlike the high-scoring blowouts elsewhere in the round, this was a tight, physical battle decided in the closing minutes.

Game Overview

Both teams traded blows throughout the first three quarters, with neither able to build a significant lead. Szedeak's home support gave them energy, but PHOENIX-MT Fot matched them possession for possession, keeping the game within a single-digit margin for much of the night. The difference came down to execution in the fourth quarter.

Key Moments

• Fourth quarter: Szedeak strung together consecutive defensive stops that translated into points at the other end.
• Free throws: Szedeak's composure at the line in the final minutes protected their slim advantage.
• Rebounding: Second-chance points in the clutch proved decisive.

Standout Performances

Szedeak's go-to scorers delivered when it mattered, hitting tough shots down the stretch and controlling the tempo. Their big men battled on the boards, giving the team extra possessions. PHOENIX-MT Fot's effort was admirable, with several players contributing on both ends, but they were undone by a cold shooting spell at the worst possible time.

Season Impact

The win gives Szedeak momentum in the Hungarian top flight and demonstrates their ability to close out tight games — a critical skill in a competitive league. For PHOENIX-MT Fot, it's a narrow defeat that will sting, but the performance offers positives to build on.
