Ferroviario de Quelimane defeated Ferroviario de Nampul 57-48 in a hard-fought Mozambique LMB contest on 16 September 2026. It was a defensive battle from the opening tip, with Quelimane's composure in the closing minutes proving the difference in a low-scoring affair.

Match Overview

The 19:00 tip-off produced a game defined by defensive intensity rather than offensive fireworks. Both teams struggled to find rhythm in the half court, but Quelimane's ability to generate second-chance points and convert free throws in the fourth quarter ultimately decided the outcome.

Nampul stayed within touching distance for three quarters, but a scoring drought early in the final period allowed the hosts to pull away.

Quarter-by-Quarter

• First quarter: Quelimane 15-10 Nampul — Quelimane started strongly, forcing turnovers and scoring in transition.
• Second quarter: Quelimane 14-13 Nampul — A tight, physical period with both defences on top.
• Third quarter: Quelimane 13-12 Nampul — Nampul kept pace but could not close the gap.
• Fourth quarter: Quelimane 15-13 Nampul — Quelimane's free-throw shooting sealed the win.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch came early in the fourth quarter. With Quelimane leading by four, their defence forced Nampul into three consecutive missed shots. The hosts capitalised with a quick 6-0 run, pushing the lead to ten and forcing Nampul to chase the game.

Nampul responded with a pair of three-pointers to cut the deficit, but Quelimane's half-court execution and rebounding down the stretch proved too solid. A late steal and fast-break layup effectively ended the contest.

Tactical Story

Both teams prioritised defence, leading to a slow, physical game. Quelimane's zone defence troubled Nampul, who struggled to find open looks from the perimeter and often settled for contested mid-range jumpers.

On offence, Quelimane were patient, working the ball inside and attacking the offensive glass. Their willingness to drive into contact earned them trips to the free-throw line, which proved crucial in a game where field goals were hard to come by. Nampul's best moments came when they pushed the tempo, but those opportunities were too infrequent.

Standout Performers

Quelimane's power forward was instrumental, controlling the boards at both ends and scoring efficiently inside. Their point guard dictated the pace and made good decisions in the fourth quarter, finishing with a solid all-round contribution.

For Nampul, the shooting guard was the standout, keeping his team in the game with timely perimeter shooting. Their centre worked hard on the defensive glass, but foul trouble limited his impact in the second half.

League Impact

The victory gives Ferroviario de Quelimane a valuable home win and reinforces their defensive identity in the Mozambique LMB. Ferroviario de Nampul will be disappointed with their fourth-quarter execution but can take encouragement from a competitive road performance. Both sides will look to build on this outing as the season progresses.
