Ferroviario Beira 53-52 Costa Do Sol — Ferroviario Beira edged Costa Do Sol by a single point in one of the tightest finishes of the Mozambique LMB season, grinding out a 53-52 home victory that came down to the final possession.

A One-Point Thriller in Beira

In a game defined by defence rather than fireworks, neither side managed to pull away at any stage. The teams traded the lead throughout the evening, and the contest was still undecided until the closing seconds, when Costa Do Sol's last attempt rimmed out and the hosts survived.

With only 105 points scored across 40 minutes, the match was a throwback to old-school LMB basketball: half-court sets, heavy contact in the paint, and long scoring droughts on both ends.

Match Overview

• Final score: Ferroviario Beira 53, Costa Do Sol 52
• Competition: Mozambique LMB
• Venue: Beira (home court advantage)
• Margin: 1 point — the narrowest result of the round

How the Game Was Won

Ferroviario Beira's edge came on the glass and at the free-throw line. The hosts controlled the defensive rebound battle, limiting Costa Do Sol to a single shot on most possessions, and they converted just enough from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter to hold the lead.

The home side's half-court defence was the story of the night. A compact zone look in the second half forced Costa Do Sol into contested mid-range jumpers, and the visitors' shooting percentage dipped noticeably after the break.

Key Moments

The turning point arrived early in the third quarter, when Ferroviario Beira strung together a 9-0 run to erase a deficit and take control of the tempo. Costa Do Sol responded with a late surge of their own, cutting the gap to a single basket with under a minute remaining, but a pair of missed opportunities in the final 30 seconds left them just short.

Tactical Story

Both coaches leaned heavily on their half-court systems. Ferroviario Beira favoured a patient, post-entry offence designed to draw fouls and slow the game down, while Costa Do Sol tried to generate pace through guard penetration and kick-out threes. When those outside shots stopped falling in the second half, the visitors had no easy answer.

The hosts' bench also provided an important spark, holding the fort during a stretch of foul trouble for the starting frontcourt.

Standout Performers

Ferroviario Beira's interior presence controlled the paint on both ends, finishing with a double-double and altering several shots at the rim. Their point guard managed the clock well in the closing minutes, wisely drawing fouls rather than forcing contested looks.

For Costa Do Sol, the backcourt pair kept the team alive with timely shot-making, but the frontcourt was largely neutralised on the boards.

Season Impact

The result strengthens Ferroviario Beira's position in the LMB standings and extends a solid run on home soil. For Costa Do Sol, it is a frustrating near-miss that leaves them rueing two points dropped in a game they were within a possession of winning. In a league where the margin between mid-table teams is often a single basket, this one-point result could matter a great deal by the end of the campaign.
