CD Municipal da Beira secured a 72-60 victory over Aguias Especiais in the Mozambique LMB on 16 September 2026. A strong second-half performance allowed the hosts to pull clear after a competitive opening, with the win strengthening their position in the league standings.

Match Overview

Played at a 17:15 tip-off, the contest was decided by Beira's ability to control the defensive glass and convert stops into points at the other end. Aguias Especiais stayed in touch for much of the first half, but a decisive run after the break put the game beyond reach.

The 12-point margin reflected Beira's superiority in the paint and their efficiency from the free-throw line, where they capitalised on Aguias foul trouble.

Quarter-by-Quarter

• First quarter: Beira 20-14 Aguias — Beira started aggressively, attacking the rim and drawing fouls.
• Second quarter: Beira 17-16 Aguias — Aguias improved defensively, but Beira maintained a narrow edge.
• Third quarter: Beira 18-15 Aguias — Beira extended their lead with a controlled, efficient period.
• Fourth quarter: Beira 17-15 Aguias — The hosts closed it out with steady free-throw shooting.

Key Moments

The game's defining stretch came midway through the third quarter. With Beira holding a slender lead, their defence forced three consecutive empty possessions for Aguias, and the hosts converted at the other end to push the advantage into double digits.

Aguias attempted to respond with a full-court press late in the fourth, but Beira's guards handled the pressure well, finding open teammates and running down the clock. A pair of corner three-pointers from the home side effectively sealed the result.

Tactical Story

Beira's game plan was clear: dominate the interior and control the boards. Their big men established deep position early, forcing Aguias to double-team and opening up driving lanes for the guards. That inside-out approach produced a balanced scoring effort.

Aguias Especiais relied heavily on their perimeter shooting, which was streaky on the night. When their jumpers fell, they stayed competitive; when they didn't, Beira's rebounding advantage became decisive. Aguias also struggled with foul trouble, sending Beira to the line repeatedly in the second half.

Standout Performers

Beira's centre was the game's dominant figure, scoring efficiently around the rim and controlling the defensive glass. Their point guard managed the tempo well, finishing with a strong all-round line that included several assists.

For Aguias, the shooting guard was the most consistent threat, keeping his team within striking distance during the first half. Their energy off the bench was notable, but the visitors lacked the interior presence to match Beira down the stretch.

League Impact

The win gives CD Municipal da Beira valuable momentum in the Mozambique LMB, reinforcing their credentials as a difficult team to beat at home. Aguias Especiais will look to regroup and address their rebounding and foul issues before their next fixture. In a league where home form often decides the final standings, this was a significant result.
