AS Sale Grind Out 67-55 Home Win Over CODM Meknes

AS Sale defeated CODM Meknes 67-55 in a hard-fought Morocco D1 League clash, relying on defense and timely third-quarter execution to secure the win. The home side never allowed CODM to find a comfortable offensive rhythm, and a decisive run after halftime helped AS Sale pull away for a valuable league victory.

This was a game defined by defense. Both teams contested shots, battled for rebounds and made every possession feel important. AS Sale held a narrow lead for much of the first half, but the game remained within reach for CODM Meknes until the home side’s defense tightened in the second half.

Match Overview

AS Sale opened with strong defensive pressure and forced CODM into difficult shots. The visitors stayed close by attacking the offensive glass and scoring in the paint, but they struggled from the perimeter. AS Sale’s ability to convert turnovers into points gave them a small cushion at halftime.

The third quarter proved decisive. AS Sale increased their defensive intensity, closed driving lanes and forced CODM into contested jump shots. Meanwhile, the home offense found better balance, mixing post touches with drives and kick-outs. That combination produced the separation AS Sale needed.

Key Moments

Leading 34-29 early in the third quarter, AS Sale put together a 9-0 run that changed the game. The sequence included a steal-and-layup, a mid-range jumper and an offensive rebound basket. CODM called timeout, but AS Sale’s momentum continued. The visitors were held without a field goal for nearly four minutes during that stretch.

CODM Meknes made a final push in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to nine points, but AS Sale responded with a clutch three-pointer and two free throws. The home side then controlled the glass and ran down the clock to secure the win.

Tactical Story

AS Sale’s half-court defense was the story of the night. They rotated well, communicated effectively and forced CODM into low-percentage shots. The home side also dominated the defensive glass, limiting second-chance opportunities and allowing their guards to control the tempo.

Offensively, AS Sale attacked the basket with purpose. Their guards drew help defenders and found open teammates, while the frontcourt battled for position inside. CODM’s defense was physical, but AS Sale’s patience and shot selection improved as the game progressed.

Standout Performers

• Youssef El Amrani led AS Sale with 18 points and several important third-quarter baskets.
• Hamza Bennani added 14 points and 10 rebounds, controlling the paint.
• Anas Berrada paced CODM Meknes with 15 points.

Standings Impact

The win strengthens AS Sale’s position in the Morocco D1 League standings and reinforces their reputation as a tough team to beat at home. CODM Meknes remain competitive but will need to improve their perimeter shooting and ball security in road games. The head-to-head result gives AS Sale an important advantage as the season unfolds.
