Serpientes Tijuana held off a determined Colorados de SLRC side 91–88 in CIBACOPA action, surviving a frantic finish to secure a three-point home victory. The win was built on a balanced offensive night and a handful of clutch defensive stops in the final minute, with the Colorados' last-second three-point attempt falling short.

Match Overview

The game opened at a high tempo, exactly the style CIBACOPA basketball is known for. Tijuana pushed the pace early, hunting quick shots in transition and punishing SLRC on the offensive glass. The Colorados, however, refused to let the game get away from them, answering every Serpientes run with timely perimeter shooting.

By the end of the first half, the two teams were separated by a handful of points, and the pattern held through the third quarter. San Luis Río Colorado's half-court execution kept them within reach, while Tijuana's ability to score in bunches — particularly from beyond the arc — repeatedly threatened to break the game open.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter surge: Tijuana opened the second half with a quick scoring run, stretching the lead and forcing an SLRC timeout.
• Colorados comeback: SLRC responded with an extended run of their own, cutting the deficit to a single possession heading into the fourth.
• Clutch free throws: The Serpientes converted key foul shots in the final minute to keep the Colorados at bay.
• Final possession: A contested three from SLRC in the closing seconds rimmed out, sealing the 91–88 result.

Tactical Story

Tijuana's offense ran through high ball screens and drive-and-kick actions, generating open looks on the wings and second-chance opportunities underneath. Their guards controlled the tempo well, slowing the game down when SLRC threatened to turn it into a track meet.

The Colorados countered with a patient half-court approach, working the ball inside-out and drawing fouls to slow Tijuana's momentum. Their zone look in the second quarter caused problems, but the Serpientes adjusted by attacking the gaps and getting to the rim. Defensively, SLRC struggled to contain dribble penetration in the fourth quarter, which ultimately proved the difference in a three-point game.

Standout Performers

Tijuana's perimeter players were the catalysts, combining for the bulk of the team's scoring and controlling the flow of the offense in crunch time. Inside, the Serpientes' big men did the dirty work — contesting shots, protecting the rim, and winning the rebounding battle in the closing minutes.

For Colorados de SLRC, the performance was a strong one in defeat. Their leading scorers kept the visitors in the game with efficient shooting, and their bench provided meaningful minutes that helped erase a second-half deficit. What they lacked was one final stop — or one final made shot — to complete the comeback.

Season Impact

The victory gives Serpientes Tijuana an important home result in the CIBACOPA standings, where every win matters in a tightly packed race. Protecting home court against regional rivals is a marker of a serious contender, and this performance fits that profile.

Colorados de SLRC leave with a narrow loss but plenty of positives. Their ability to compete on the road against a strong Tijuana side keeps them firmly in the mix, and a rematch between these two teams would be well worth watching given how evenly matched they looked across 40 minutes.
