Mineros de Parral produced an emphatic offensive performance in Mexico’s CIBACOPA, defeating Chapulines de Oaxaca 105-82 behind a balanced attack and a decisive first-half run.

The hosts set the tone early with a 28-19 first quarter and kept the pressure on through the second, taking a 53-39 lead into halftime. Mineros added 27 points in the third quarter and 25 in the fourth, finishing with a 105-point total that underlined their scoring depth and control of the game.

Match overview: Mineros take command early

Mineros de Parral never allowed Chapulines de Oaxaca to settle into a comfortable defensive rhythm. The home side moved the ball quickly, attacked in transition, and punished open looks from beyond the arc. The first-half scoring gap gave Mineros a cushion, and the team managed the game well after the break.

Chapulines de Oaxaca had moments of resistance, particularly when their guards created penetration and kicked out to shooters. However, the visitors struggled to string together defensive stops. Every time Chapulines threatened to reduce the deficit, Mineros answered with a run of their own. By the end of the third quarter, the home side had built an 80-60 advantage and effectively removed any doubt about the result.

How Mineros broke the game open

The game turned on Mineros’ ability to convert defense into offense. The hosts forced turnovers and rushed into transition, where their guards found easy baskets before the Chapulines defense could set. In the half-court, Mineros used ball movement to create high-percentage shots and offensive rebounds to extend possessions.

Another key factor was free-throw pressure. Mineros attacked the rim consistently, drawing fouls and reaching the bonus early in quarters. That allowed the home side to keep the scoreboard moving even when the pace slowed. Chapulines, by contrast, relied more heavily on perimeter shooting and had fewer second-chance opportunities.

Standout performers

• Diego Armendáriz led Mineros de Parral with 24 points, including several important baskets during the first-half surge.
• Luis Fernando Reyes added 18 points and controlled the offense from the point guard position.
• Omar Carrillo contributed 15 points and gave Mineros a strong presence on the boards.
• For Chapulines de Oaxaca, Jorge Villalobos scored 20 points and remained aggressive throughout.
• Emilio Núñez added 16 points for the visitors, but Chapulines could not match Mineros’ depth or shooting efficiency.

CIBACOPA standings impact

The 105-82 win is the kind of result that can boost a team’s confidence and point differential in the CIBACOPA table. Mineros de Parral showed that they can score at a high level while maintaining control of the game, a combination that makes them difficult to handle at home.

For Chapulines de Oaxaca, the defeat highlights the need for more consistent defense and better rebounding. The visitors showed enough offensive flashes to suggest they can compete, but allowing 105 points makes it hard to stay in any game. Mineros will look to build on the performance, while Chapulines must regroup quickly and find a way to slow opposing offenses.
