Match Overview

From the opening tip at 09:00, Tec Mty Monterrey looked comfortable in front of their home crowd. They attacked the paint early, drew fouls, and forced UPAEP into contested jump shots. UPAEP stayed within striking distance in the first quarter, but Monterrey’s defensive pressure began to tell as the game wore on. By halftime, the hosts had established a lead they would not surrender, and the second half became a lesson in game management.

Final score: Tec Mty Monterrey 76, UPAEP 60

Quarter scoring: Monterrey 18-22-20-16; UPAEP 14-12-18-16

Key Moments

• Second-quarter surge: Monterrey outscored UPAEP 22-12 in the second period, turning a tight opening frame into a commanding halftime advantage.
• Defensive stops: A string of three straight UPAEP possessions without a field goal midway through the third quarter killed the visitors’ momentum.
• Closing run: Whenever UPAEP trimmed the deficit to single digits, Monterrey answered with a timely three-pointer or an and-one finish inside.

Tactical Story

Tec Mty Monterrey’s game plan was built on ball movement and paint touches. Their guards pushed the pace selectively, looking for early offense before settling into a patient half-court set. That balance kept UPAEP’s defense guessing. On the other end, Monterrey switched aggressively on screens and crowded the lane, forcing UPAEP into long two-point attempts. The rebounding battle also tilted Monterrey’s way, limiting second-chance opportunities and allowing them to control the tempo.

Standout Performances

In the head-to-head battle, Monterrey’s top scorers set the tone, combining for timely scoring and steady ball security. Their leading scorer repeatedly broke down UPAEP off the dribble, while the frontcourt provided physical screens and efficient finishes around the rim. UPAEP had bright moments from their perimeter shooters, but the team’s offense never found a consistent rhythm. A late flurry kept the final margin respectable, yet Monterrey’s defensive consistency was the difference.

What It Means in the Mexico ABE League

The victory gives Tec Mty Monterrey an important result in the Mexico ABE League standings, reinforcing their reputation as a disciplined home team. For UPAEP, the loss is a reminder that offensive lulls against quality opponents can be costly. The 76-60 final score will be one they want to learn from quickly, especially with the next round of ABE League fixtures approaching. Monterrey, meanwhile, can build on a performance that showed both offensive balance and defensive resolve.
