Negeri Sembilan Women produced a dominant 82-25 victory over Johore Women in the Malaysia Women's Agong Cup on Sunday, a result that ranks among the most comprehensive performances of the tournament. The 57-point margin underlined the gulf in execution between the two sides, with Negeri Sembilan controlling every phase of the game from tip-off to final buzzer.

Match Overview

The game tipped off at 14:00 on 18 October 2026 with Johore hoping to spring an upset against one of the competition's stronger entries. Instead, Negeri Sembilan imposed their will almost immediately, suffocating Johore's offense with aggressive on-ball pressure and converting turnovers into quick points at the other end. By halftime the contest had already taken on a lopsided shape, and the second half served largely to confirm Negeri Sembilan's superiority.

Holding an opponent to 25 points across four quarters is a remarkable defensive achievement at any level of women's basketball, and it reflected both Negeri Sembilan's intensity and Johore's struggles to generate clean looks against a well-drilled defensive system.

Key Moments

• Opening surge: Negeri Sembilan raced out to an early lead, forcing Johore into hurried shots and turnovers.
• Defensive lockdown: Johore were held to single-digit scoring in multiple quarters, with Negeri Sembilan's rotations cutting off driving lanes and perimeter space.
• Third-quarter pull-away: Any lingering resistance was broken as Negeri Sembilan extended the margin beyond 40 points.
• Bench depth: Negeri Sembilan's reserves maintained the standard, widening the gap further in the closing period.

Tactical Story

Negeri Sembilan's game plan centered on defensive disruption. Full-court pressure and active hands in passing lanes produced a stream of steals and deflections, and the team's transition offense punished Johore relentlessly. Offensively, Negeri Sembilan shared the ball well, generating open shots through ball movement rather than individual isolation, which kept the scoring balanced across the rotation.

Johore's difficulties compounded as the game wore on. Poor shooting from the perimeter, limited success inside against Negeri Sembilan's size, and a high turnover count combined to starve the offense of possessions. Defensively, Johore struggled to contain dribble penetration, which collapsed their help defense and opened up kick-out opportunities for Negeri Sembilan's shooters.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Negeri Sembilan's position in the Agong Cup standings and gives them a significant points-differential advantage should tiebreakers come into play later in the competition. For Johore, the defeat is a sobering result that will require a hard look at offensive structure and ball security before their next outing. The 82-25 scoreline stands as one of the most one-sided results of the tournament so far and a clear signal of Negeri Sembilan's title ambitions.
