Negeri Sembilan Women Cruise Past Johore Women 78-50 in Agong Cup Clash

Negeri Sembilan Women delivered one of their most complete performances of the Malaysia Women's Agong Cup campaign on 16 October 2026, defeating Johore Women 78-50 in a game they controlled from the opening tip. The 28-point victory underlined Negeri Sembilan's credentials as a serious contender in the competition, while Johore were left searching for answers after a difficult afternoon on both ends of the floor.

The final score of 78-50 reflected a contest that was rarely in doubt. Negeri Sembilan set the tone with aggressive defense, efficient transition scoring, and a balanced attack that punished Johore inside and out. By the time the fourth quarter arrived, the result was all but settled, allowing Negeri Sembilan to manage their rotation and close out the win with composure.

Match Overview

From the opening minutes, Negeri Sembilan looked sharper. They moved the ball with purpose, attacked the basket with conviction, and forced Johore into contested shots. Johore struggled to establish any rhythm in the half-court, often settling for low-percentage attempts or turning the ball over under pressure.

Negeri Sembilan's defensive intensity was the story of the first half. They disrupted Johore's pick-and-roll actions, closed down driving lanes, and turned several defensive stops into quick fast-break points. Offensively, Negeri Sembilan shared the scoring load, with contributions from the starting five and the bench.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

Negeri Sembilan opened with a 20-12 first quarter, establishing a lead they would never surrender. The second quarter followed a similar pattern, as Negeri Sembilan added another 20 points while holding Johore to just 12. That pushed the halftime advantage to 40-24 and gave Negeri Sembilan full control of the game.

Johore showed brief signs of life in the third quarter, scoring 14 points, but Negeri Sembilan answered with 18 of their own to make it 58-38. Any hope of a Johore comeback was quickly extinguished in the fourth, where Negeri Sembilan outscored their opponents 20-12 to seal the 78-50 victory.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch came late in the second quarter. With Negeri Sembilan already ahead by double digits, they strung together a run built on defensive stops and quick baskets in transition. Johore were forced into hurried decisions, and Negeri Sembilan's guards capitalized with layups and open perimeter looks.

Another important moment arrived early in the third quarter. Johore came out with more energy and briefly reduced the deficit, but Negeri Sembilan responded immediately with a composed offensive possession that ended in a three-point play. That sequence restored the momentum and triggered another Negeri Sembilan surge.

Tactical Story

Negeri Sembilan's game plan was clear: pressure the ball, protect the paint, and run at every opportunity. Their guards picked up Johore's ball handlers well beyond the three-point line, making entry passes difficult and forcing Johore to start their offense late in the shot clock. That pressure translated into turnovers, and Negeri Sembilan's transition attack did the rest.

On offense, Negeri Sembilan balanced inside scoring with timely outside shooting. When Johore collapsed on the driver, Negeri Sembilan kicked out for open threes or reversed the ball for high-percentage looks. Their ball movement kept Johore's defense shifting and created mismatches around the basket.

Johore, meanwhile, never found a consistent answer. Their half-court sets were often stagnant, and they struggled to convert second-chance opportunities. Defensively, they had trouble containing penetration and gave up too many easy points in the paint. The rebounding battle also favored Negeri Sembilan, limiting Johore's extra possessions.

Standout Team Efforts

• Negeri Sembilan's defense: A collective effort that disrupted Johore's rhythm and generated transition offense.
• Balanced scoring: Negeri Sembilan received contributions across the rotation, making them difficult to defend.
• Bench impact: The reserves maintained intensity and helped extend the lead in the second and fourth quarters.
