Key moments

The game remained competitive into the second half, with PDRM refusing to let Perak Wilma pull away completely. Every time PDRM cut into the lead, however, Wilma found an answer, often through quick ball movement that created open looks from beyond the arc. In the final five minutes, Wilma’s composure at the free-throw line helped protect the advantage.

PDRM’s best stretches came when they attacked the basket and forced help defenders to rotate. Their energy on the offensive glass created extra possessions, but costly turnovers and missed free throws prevented them from making a final run. Wilma’s ability to score in transition also kept PDRM from setting up its half-court defense consistently.

Tactical story

Perak Wilma’s offensive approach was built on pace and spacing. The guards pushed the ball after made baskets and rebounds, looking for early offense before PDRM could load up defensively. When the game slowed down, Wilma used ball screens and drive-and-kick actions to generate open perimeter shots.

PDRM competed well on the boards and showed physicality inside, but the team’s defensive rotations were stretched by Wilma’s shooting. The cup tie also featured a number of fouls, and Wilma’s ability to convert from the line proved important in the closing minutes. PDRM’s half-court execution improved late, but the comeback never gathered enough momentum.

Standout performers and season impact

Perak Wilma received a balanced scoring effort, with the backcourt controlling tempo and the frontline contributing on the boards and around the rim. PDRM’s guards and interior players had productive moments, but the team could not match Wilma’s efficiency over the full forty minutes.

The 94-83 victory gives Perak Wilma a positive result in the Malaysia MABA Cup and valuable momentum for the next stage of the competition. PDRM will take encouragement from their fighting performance but will need cleaner execution on both ends to turn close cup games in their favor.
