UEB Gesteco Cividale Dominate Urania Milano 78-60 in Serie A2

UEB Gesteco Cividale produced a commanding 78-60 home victory over Urania Milano in Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro Serie A2 action on October 25, 2026, relying on smothering defense and balanced scoring to control the game from the opening quarter. The win strengthens Cividale’s position in the promotion race and exposes Urania’s offensive inconsistencies in a one-sided contest.

Match Overview

Cividale set the tone early, holding Urania to just 12 first-quarter points while building a 20-12 lead. The hosts extended the advantage in the second period through strong bench play and efficient inside scoring, taking a 39-29 lead into halftime. Urania briefly threatened early in the third quarter, but Cividale responded with a 12-3 run that pushed the lead to 58-42 and effectively ended the visitors’ hopes of a comeback.

The fourth quarter was played at a slower pace, with Cividale protecting its lead and forcing Urania into difficult perimeter shots. The hosts finished with a decisive advantage in points off turnovers and never allowed Urania to establish any sustained rhythm. The final margin reflected Cividale’s control over the game’s tempo and defensive structure.

Key Moments

• Cividale’s 11-0 run in the second quarter turned a close game into a double-digit lead.
• A series of third-quarter defensive stops, including two blocks, halted Urania’s best stretch of the game.
• Urania’s cold shooting spell in the fourth quarter prevented any realistic comeback attempt.

Tactical Story

Cividale’s half-court defense was the story of the game. The hosts forced 17 turnovers, contested nearly every perimeter look, and limited Urania’s transition opportunities. Cividale’s guards pressured the ball effectively, while the frontline protected the rim and controlled the defensive glass. On offense, Cividale moved the ball well and attacked mismatches inside, finishing with a strong advantage in paint scoring.

Urania struggled to find offensive flow. The visitors relied heavily on isolation plays and three-point shooting, but neither produced consistent results. When Urania tried to push the pace, Cividale’s transition defense held firm. The visitors’ inability to score through contact and generate second-chance points left them chasing the game for long stretches.

Standout Players

Cividale forward Pietro Arese led the hosts with 19 points and eight rebounds, controlling the paint on both ends. Marco Della Valle added 15 points and five assists, while reserve guard Luca Santoro contributed 11 points and three steals. Cividale’s balanced attack made it difficult for Urania to focus on a single scoring threat.

For Urania, Luca Fontana scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Andrea Moretti added 11 points. Urania’s leading scorers worked hard, but the team’s turnovers and poor shooting from beyond the arc prevented any sustained push.

Standings and Season Impact

The victory strengthens Cividale’s standing in the Serie A2 promotion race and gives the club valuable momentum. Urania leaves with a difficult loss and will need to improve its ball security and perimeter shooting in the coming games. In a league where defensive consistency often separates playoff contenders from the rest of the pack, Cividale’s performance was a clear statement.
