Ruvo Di Puglia Dominate Dinamo Sassari 79-63 in Serie A2

Ruvo Di Puglia delivered a commanding 79-63 home win over Dinamo Sassari in Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro Serie A2 on 26 October 2026. A strong defensive performance and control of the paint allowed Ruvo to build a double-digit lead and keep Sassari at arm’s length for much of the night.

Match overview

Ruvo set the tone early with physical defense and aggressive rebounding. Sassari were able to create some open looks in the opening minutes, but Ruvo’s ability to contest shots and finish possessions with the defensive rebound limited second-chance opportunities. On offense, Ruvo attacked the basket with purpose and used their size inside to score through contact.

The game began to turn in Ruvo’s favor before halftime. A sustained run gave the home side a cushion, and Sassari’s offense became increasingly reliant on contested perimeter shots. Ruvo’s lead continued to grow after the break as their half-court defense tightened and their transition game produced easier baskets. The 79-63 final score underlines how much control Ruvo had over the contest.

Key moments

The decisive stretch came in the second quarter, when Ruvo put together a run built on stops and interior scoring. Sassari went through a scoring drought, and Ruvo took advantage by attacking the offensive glass and converting second-chance points. The home crowd grew louder as the lead expanded, and Sassari were forced to chase the game from that point forward.

Any hopes of a Sassari comeback were effectively ended in the third quarter. Ruvo opened the half with another burst, pushing the margin to a comfortable level and forcing Sassari to call timeout. Sassari tried to respond with perimeter shooting, but Ruvo’s closeouts and rebounding kept the visitors from stringing together enough scores to make it a one-possession game again.

Tactical story

Ruvo’s game plan was clear: dominate the paint and make Sassari earn everything from the outside. They used their frontcourt to score inside, crash the offensive boards, and protect the rim on defense. That combination gave them a significant advantage in shot quality and helped them control the pace of the game.

Sassari’s offense never found a consistent rhythm. When they attacked the basket, Ruvo’s help defense was quick to arrive; when they settled for three-pointers, the shots were often contested. Sassari’s best moments came in transition, but Ruvo did a good job of getting back and limiting easy fast-break points. The rebounding battle was especially important, and Ruvo’s dominance there told the story of the night.

Standout performers

Ruvo’s frontcourt controlled the game on both ends, scoring efficiently inside and cleaning up the defensive glass. The guards complemented that interior presence by pushing the tempo when possible and feeding the post when the offense needed to slow down. Sassari’s guards showed flashes of shot-making, and their big men competed on the boards, but the visitors lacked the consistent scoring punch needed to stay with Ruvo over four quarters.

Season impact

For Ruvo Di Puglia, the 16-point win is a strong statement in the Serie A2 standings and a useful head-to-head result against a recognized opponent. It reinforces the value of their defensive identity and interior play. Dinamo Sassari will need to review their half-court offense and rebounding after a difficult road night, while Ruvo can build on a performance that combined control, physicality, and efficient scoring.
