New Basket Brindisi held off a determined Urania Milano side to win 84-81 at home in a Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro Serie A2 clash that delivered everything promised and more. In a game where both teams traded blows from the opening tip, Brindisi's late-game execution and home-court energy proved just enough to secure the three-point victory.

Match Overview

Brindisi opened with intent, using their crowd to fuel a high-tempo start and building a modest early advantage. Urania Milano responded with patience and precision, working the ball into their half-court sets and knocking down shots to stay within range. The contest tightened into the third quarter, and from there it became a straight shootout decided by the smallest of margins.

How the Game Was Won

The final stretch was the story. With the game level and under two minutes remaining, Brindisi produced the two most important possessions of the night — a hard-fought basket inside and a defensive stop that forced Urania into a difficult look. Free throws down the stretch extended the margin, and the hosts survived a last-gasp three-point attempt that would have forced overtime.

Key Moments

• Brindisi's fast start, driven by transition baskets, set the tone in front of the home support.
• Urania's third-quarter run brought the game level and silenced the arena briefly.
• A clutch interior basket and a decisive defensive stop in the final minute proved the turning point.

Standout Performers

Brindisi's frontcourt was influential on both ends, finishing efficiently around the rim while protecting the paint defensively. Their lead guards managed the tempo well in the closing minutes, avoiding turnovers when the pressure was at its highest. Urania's backcourt was outstanding — sharp shooting and creative passing kept the visitors in the game until the very end, and their wing scoring off the bench gave Brindisi problems throughout.

Tactical Story

Both teams had clear identities. Brindisi wanted to push the pace, attack early in the shot clock and use their athleticism to generate points in transition. Urania Milano preferred a structured half-court game, relying on screening actions, dribble penetration and kick-out threes. The clash between those approaches produced a fascinating, back-and-forth contest.

Rebounding was largely even, but Brindisi's superior efficiency inside the arc — and their ability to get to the free-throw line in the fourth quarter — tilted the numbers in their favour.

Season Impact

Home wins are the currency of promotion pushes in Serie A2, and Brindisi will be delighted to have banked a hard-earned one. The victory keeps them moving in the right direction early in the campaign. For Urania Milano, meanwhile, the performance underlined their competitiveness — a three-point road loss against a strong home side is a narrow margin on which to build.

What's Next

Brindisi will want to make their home court a fortress as the season progresses, while Urania return to Milan with lessons about late-game management. Both sides look capable of making noise in the division.
