PMS Torino secured a hard-fought 85-81 road victory over New Basket Brindisi in Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro Serie A2 on Sunday, spoiling the hosts’ night at the PalaPentassuglia. Torino’s backcourt controlled the closing minutes, and a late 9-3 run proved enough to separate the sides in a game that featured 11 lead changes.

Match overview

Brindisi led 20-22 after the first quarter, but Torino responded to take a 43-39 halftime advantage. The visitors extended the lead to 65-61 after three quarters, only for Brindisi to tie the game at 76 with just over three minutes remaining. Torino remained composed, using patient offense and aggressive drives to earn free throws, then sealed the win with a pair of late defensive stops.

The game was decided at the margins. Torino shot better from the free-throw line, won the offensive rebound battle and forced Brindisi into several contested three-point attempts in the final period. Brindisi’s home crowd stayed engaged until the final buzzer, but the hosts could not find one more scoring burst.

Key moments

• Torino closed the first half on a 10-2 run to turn an early deficit into a four-point lead.
• Brindisi tied the game at 76 late in the fourth, setting up a tense finish.
• Torino’s 9-3 closing run, capped by two free throws, put the game out of reach.

Tactical story

Torino’s guards did an excellent job of breaking down Brindisi’s perimeter defense, repeatedly getting into the paint and creating open looks for teammates. Defensively, Torino mixed man-to-man and zone looks to disrupt Brindisi’s rhythm, particularly in the fourth quarter. Brindisi relied heavily on three-point shooting, but a cold night from beyond the arc left the hosts searching for alternative offense late.

Standout players

Torino’s backcourt combined for 42 points, with the starting point guard finishing with 19 points and six assists. The visiting forward added 19 points and 10 rebounds, controlling the glass in key moments. For Brindisi, the leading scorer poured in 24 points, but the hosts lacked the same balance that Torino displayed on the road.

Season impact

The result is a significant road statement for PMS Torino and gives the club momentum in the Serie A2 playoff race. New Basket Brindisi will be disappointed to let a tight home game slip away, especially after tying the score late. Both teams remain in the thick of the standings, but Torino’s ability to execute down the stretch could prove valuable as the season progresses.
