New Basket Brindisi delivered a strong home performance in Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro Serie A2, defeating Avellino Basket 83-70 at the PalaPentassuglia. The hosts combined disciplined defense with balanced scoring to secure a comfortable victory, pulling away from a competitive Avellino side and delighting the Brindisi faithful.

Match Overview

Brindisi set the tone early with energetic defense and quick ball movement, forcing Avellino into difficult shots and contested possessions. The hosts' defensive intensity was the foundation of the win, as they held their opponents to 70 points — a modest total in a league where offensive firepower is plentiful. Offensively, Brindisi shared the ball effectively, creating open looks and attacking the paint with purpose.

Avellino remained competitive through stretches, particularly in the first half, using physical play inside and timely perimeter shooting to stay within range. However, Brindisi's ability to string together defensive stops proved decisive, allowing them to gradually build a lead and control the game's tempo down the stretch.

Key Moments

• Defensive spark: Brindisi's second-quarter defensive stretch produced consecutive stops that turned into transition points, shifting the momentum firmly in the hosts' favor.
• Third-quarter control: Coming out of halftime, Brindisi extended their lead with disciplined half-court execution and aggressive rebounding on both ends.
• Closing run: In the fourth quarter, the hosts maintained their composure from the free-throw line and sealed the win with timely baskets.

Tactical Story

Brindisi's game plan centered on disrupting Avellino's half-court rhythm. By pressuring ball handlers and closing out aggressively on shooters, the hosts forced their opponents into rushed attempts and turnovers. The rebounding battle also favored Brindisi, limiting Avellino's second-chance opportunities and allowing the home side to control possession counts.

On offense, Brindisi's spacing created driving lanes and open kick-out opportunities. The team's willingness to make the extra pass consistently unlocked Avellino's defense, and the balanced scoring output made it difficult for the visitors to key in on any single threat.

Standout Performers

Brindisi's backcourt controlled the tempo, combining efficient shooting with smart decision-making. The frontcourt contributed crucial rebounding and interior scoring, ensuring the hosts maintained an advantage in the paint. Defensively, the collective effort stood out — the 70 points conceded represented a strong team performance rather than the work of a single stopper.

For Avellino, there were positive moments, particularly from their perimeter shooters, but the team struggled to find consistent offense against Brindisi's pressure. The visitors will need to improve their ball security and rebounding to compete in upcoming fixtures.

Season Impact

The victory strengthens New Basket Brindisi's position in the Serie A2 standings and reinforces their home-court advantage at the PalaPentassuglia. Wins of this nature — controlled, defensively sound and professionally managed — are the building blocks of a successful season. For Avellino, the 83-70 defeat serves as a reminder of the challenges of road basketball in a deep and competitive league.
