The hosts forced two turnovers and converted them into fast-break points, then added a corner three to spark an 11-2 run that sealed the game.

A highlight-reel alley-oop dunk from Avellino’s wing brought the home crowd to its feet and pushed the lead to 20 midway through the fourth. Montecatiniterme never recovered, and Avellino comfortably closed out the win.

Tactical story

Avellino’s uptempo style was the difference. They forced 18 turnovers and scored 24 fast-break points, constantly punishing Montecatiniterme’s mistakes. The hosts also shot 11-of-27 from three-point range, stretching the floor and opening driving lanes. Defensively, Avellino’s guards pressured the ball full-court, disrupting Montecatiniterme’s half-court sets and forcing them into contested shots.

Montecatiniterme found some success inside, scoring 34 points in the paint and grabbing 12 offensive rebounds, but their 8-of-28 shooting from beyond the arc and 15 turnovers proved too costly. Avellino’s bench also provided a spark, outscoring their opponents’ reserves 28-18.

Standout performers

Avellino’s backcourt combined for 42 points and 12 assists, controlling the pace and making big shots whenever Montecatiniterme threatened. Their small forward added 16 points and seven rebounds, while the center anchored the defense with three blocks. For Montecatiniterme, the center was a bright spot with 20 points and 12 rebounds, but he lacked consistent perimeter support.

Season impact

The victory strengthens Avellino Basket’s position in the Serie A2 standings and highlights their ability to dictate tempo at home. For Montecatiniterme Basketball, the loss is a reminder that turnovers and poor three-point shooting are difficult to overcome on the road. Avellino will look to maintain their aggressive style, while Montecatiniterme must tighten their ball security and find more balance on offense.
