Avellino Basket produced a dominant home performance in the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro Serie A2, sweeping aside MiroRadici Finance Vigevano 87-69. The margin flattered the visitors if anything, as Avellino controlled the contest for three of the four quarters and emptied their bench down the stretch.

Match Overview

Italian Serie A2 basketball is notoriously competitive, with little separating the top half of the table on any given night, but this fixture was rarely in doubt after the opening ten minutes. Avellino's defensive pressure forced Vigevano into a string of low-percentage attempts, and once the hosts found their shooting rhythm in the second quarter, the game opened up decisively.

The 18-point final margin reflected Avellino's superiority in transition and their dominance on the defensive glass. Vigevano never stopped competing, but they were second-best in nearly every statistical category that mattered.

Key Moments

• Late first quarter: A quick 6-0 burst gave Avellino a lead they would never surrender.
• Second-quarter blitz: The hosts reeled off their best stretch of the night, mixing fast-break points with accurate outside shooting to build a double-digit half-time advantage.
• Third-quarter consolidation: Vigevano threatened briefly, but Avellino's answer was immediate and emphatic.
• Bench minutes: With the result secure, Avellino's reserves closed out the game and preserved the defensive intensity.

Tactical Story

Avellino's coaching staff set the tone with an aggressive full-court press in the early possessions, forcing Vigevano to burn shot-clock time just to get the ball over half court. That pressure translated into turnovers and easy transition baskets, the single biggest factor in the final margin.

In the half court, Avellino's ball movement was excellent. They consistently found the open man, punished closeouts with drives, and finished efficiently around the rim. Vigevano attempted to slow the tempo by zoning, a ploy that worked for a brief stretch before Avellino's shooters began attacking the gaps in the zone rather than settling for jumpers.

Standout Performers

Avellino's leading scorer turned in a composed, efficient performance, finishing around the rim and knocking down timely perimeter shots. The point guard orchestrated proceedings with maturity, controlling tempo and delivering the ball to the right places. Off the bench, a young forward provided an energy boost with aggressive rebounding and a pair of highlight-worthy finishes.

Vigevano's most productive players came from the backcourt, where their guards kept the scoreboard ticking with determined drives and mid-range shooting. Their interior players fought hard on the boards, but the size and physicality of Avellino's front line proved difficult to overcome.

Season Impact

For Avellino, the victory is an important marker in their Serie A2 campaign, reinforcing their playoff credentials and their strength at home. The manner of the win — comfortable, controlled, and with contributions from across the roster — will please the coaching staff as much as the two points themselves.

Vigevano leave with lessons to absorb. Competing in Serie A2 requires consistency on the defensive end, and their inability to slow Avellino's transition game ultimately proved the difference between a competitive night and a heavy defeat.
