The Dorados de Chihuahua escaped the Gimnasio Hermanos Carreón with a hard-earned road victory on Saturday, October 3, 2026, edging the Panteras de Aguascalientes 83-81 in a Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) matchup that came down to the final possession. In a game that featured 14 lead changes and nine ties, the visitors found just enough poise in the closing minutes to hand the Panteras a painful home defeat.

Match Overview

The contest matched two teams separated by very little in the standings, and the scoreboard reflected that balance from the opening tip. Dorados leaned on efficient half-court execution and a decisive advantage at the free-throw line, while Panteras stayed alive through offensive rebounding and a loud home crowd that kept the energy high until the final buzzer.

• Final score: Panteras de Aguascalientes 81, Dorados de Chihuahua 83
• Competition: Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP), 2026 season
• Venue: Gimnasio Hermanos Carreón, Aguascalientes
• Result: Road win for Dorados de Chihuahua

How the Game Unfolded

Panteras opened brightly, attacking the rim early and building a small cushion behind a 22-19 first quarter. The visitors answered immediately in the second, tightening their perimeter defense and pushing the tempo in transition to take a 43-40 lead into the halftime break.

The third quarter became a grinding, physical affair, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to string together more than a four-point run. Dorados entered the final period with a slim advantage, but the Panteras clawed back in front midway through the fourth on a pair of second-chance baskets.

The last three minutes turned into a possession-by-possession duel. Dorados converted key free throws down the stretch and forced a contested, off-balance look on the Panteras' final attack, sealing the two-point win.

Key Moments

• A momentum-swinging 8-0 run by Dorados midway through the second quarter flipped the game's rhythm and gave them a lead they would hold for most of the night.
• Panteras tied the game with under four minutes remaining on a corner three that brought the home crowd to its feet.
• The decisive sequence came in the final minute: a defensive stop, a pair of made free throws, and a missed Panteras attempt in the closing seconds.

Tactical Story

Dorados won this game with defense and discipline. They switched aggressively on screens, forced Panteras into late-clock shots, and controlled the defensive glass when it mattered most. Offensively, they were patient, working the ball inside-out and drawing contact to reach the bonus early in each quarter.

Panteras, meanwhile, were the more aggressive team on the offensive boards and generated extra possessions, but their shooting went cold in stretches. Turnovers in transition proved costly, gifting Dorados easy points that ultimately made the difference in a two-point game.

Standout Players

Dorados' backcourt set the tone, with their starting point guard dictating pace and delivering timely buckets in the fourth quarter. Their interior presence anchored the defense with blocks and rebounds, while a bench contributor provided a crucial scoring spark in the second period.

For Panteras, the scoring load was shared. Their leading scorer kept the offense afloat with mid-range efficiency, and a forward delivered a double-double effort on the boards. The home side will point to missed free throws and a handful of empty late possessions as the margin in this one.

Season Impact

The result strengthens Dorados de Chihuahua's position in the LNBP playoff race and adds a valuable road win to their résumé — the kind of result that matters when tiebreakers are calculated in December. For Panteras de Aguascalientes, it is a frustrating home loss against a direct competitor, and one that puts added pressure on the upcoming road trip.

Both clubs now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with the Panteras eager to defend their home court more effectively and the Dorados hoping to carry this late-game composure into their next outing.
