Dorados de Chihuahua outlast Fuerza Regia 120-116 in high-scoring thriller

Dorados de Chihuahua edged Fuerza Regia 120-116 in a spectacular Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional shootout. With 236 combined points, the contest was a track meet from start to finish, featuring rapid transitions, deep three-point shooting, and a tense finish that kept both benches on edge until the final seconds.

The four-point margin was the slimmest of margins in a game that felt much wider at times, as both teams traded runs and momentum swings. Dorados de Chihuahua ultimately made the decisive plays late, while Fuerza Regia were left ruing a handful of empty possessions in the closing stretch.

Match overview

The game began at a furious pace, with both teams seemingly comfortable in an up-and-down style. Dorados de Chihuahua attacked the rim early, drawing fouls and generating second-chance points. Fuerza Regia answered with perimeter shooting, stretching the floor and forcing Dorados to defend in space.

Neither side could build a comfortable cushion. Every time one team appeared ready to pull away, the other responded with a scoring burst. The final quarter turned into a possession-by-possession battle, and Dorados de Chihuahua’s execution at the free-throw line and on the defensive glass proved decisive in a 120-116 win.

Key moments

• First-half scoring surge: Both teams shot with confidence, turning the opening two quarters into a high-tempo exchange of baskets.
• Dorados’ paint attack: Chihuahua repeatedly attacked the rim in the third quarter, earning free throws and forcing Fuerza Regia into foul trouble.
• Fuerza Regia’s response: Monterrey’s side stayed close with timely three-point shooting and transition buckets, keeping the pressure on until the final minute.
• Clutch finish: Dorados de Chihuahua made the smarter plays late, securing key defensive rebounds and converting free throws to hold off the comeback.

Tactical story

Dorados de Chihuahua’s offense was built on penetration and ball movement. The team consistently collapsed the defense before kicking the ball to open shooters or finishing at the rim. That aggressive approach paid off in the paint and at the charity stripe, where Dorados maintained a slight edge.

Fuerza Regia countered with spacing and quick ball reversals. The Monterrey club found success when it played with pace and attacked before Chihuahua’s defense could set. However, Fuerza Regia’s defensive rebounding became an issue in the second half, allowing Dorados extra possessions that proved costly.

Standout performers

Dorados de Chihuahua received a balanced scoring effort, with multiple players contributing in double figures and the bench providing timely baskets. Chihuahua’s guards controlled the tempo, while the frontcourt battled on the boards and finished through contact.

Fuerza Regia’s offensive output was powered by strong perimeter shooting and creative guard play. The team moved the ball well and found open looks, but a few missed opportunities in the final minutes prevented the visitors from completing the comeback.

What it means

The win gives Dorados de Chihuahua a valuable confidence boost in the LNBP and reinforces the team’s ability to win in different styles. A 120-point performance is a statement, but the defensive stops and free throws at the end mattered just as much as the scoring fireworks.

For Fuerza Regia, the loss is a tough one to absorb after such a strong offensive night. The focus will shift to late-game execution and defensive rebounding, two areas that made the difference in a game decided by four points. In a league as competitive as the LNBP, those details often separate wins from losses.
