Soles de Mexicali roll past Abejas de Leon 92-70 in LNBP road statement

Soles de Mexicali delivered a commanding road performance in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP), defeating Abejas de Leon 92-70. The 22-point final margin reflected a game that Mexicali controlled for long stretches, using defensive pressure and balanced scoring to quiet the home crowd and secure one of its more complete results of the campaign.

The result gave Soles de Mexicali a valuable road win in a competitive LNBP schedule, while Abejas de Leon were left searching for answers after an offensive night that never fully found rhythm. Mexicali’s ability to turn defense into quick offense proved to be the defining theme of the contest.

Match overview

Soles de Mexicali set the tone early with active hands, physical perimeter defense, and a willingness to push the pace after misses. Abejas de Leon tried to settle into their half-court sets, but Mexicali’s length and rotations disrupted entry passes and forced Leon into contested jump shots.

Whenever Abejas threatened to build momentum, Mexicali answered with a timely three-pointer or a second-chance basket. The visitors gradually stretched their advantage, and by the closing quarter the game had turned into a comfortable road victory. The final scoreline of 92-70 underlined Mexicali’s control on both ends of the floor.

Key moments

• Early defensive pressure: Soles de Mexicali forced turnovers in the opening minutes and converted them into transition points, setting an aggressive tone.
• Second-quarter separation: Mexicali used a sustained run to move ahead by double digits, capitalizing on Leon’s cold shooting stretch.
• Third-quarter response: Abejas de Leon briefly found better offensive flow, but Mexicali answered with composed half-court execution to protect the lead.
• Closing stretch: The Soles’ bench helped maintain energy and defensive intensity, preventing any late comeback attempt from gaining traction.

Tactical story

Mexicali’s defensive game plan was built around crowding Leon’s primary ball handlers and forcing difficult decisions. The Soles rotated well on the perimeter, contested shots, and limited clean looks from beyond the arc. On offense, Mexicali shared the ball effectively, attacking mismatches and moving the defense side to side.

Abejas de Leon, by contrast, relied heavily on individual shot creation. When those shots did not fall consistently, the offense stalled. Leon’s interior players worked hard on the glass, but Mexicali’s ability to score in transition and from the perimeter kept the home side at arm’s length.

Standout performers

Mexicali’s backcourt set the tone with pressure defense and smart decision-making, while the team’s frontcourt controlled the rebounding battle and finished around the rim. The Soles received contributions across the rotation, which made them difficult to guard for extended possessions.

For Abejas de Leon, the effort was there, particularly on the defensive boards, but the team lacked the offensive consistency needed to keep pace. Leon’s guards had moments of quality shot creation, yet Mexicali’s defense made every possession feel contested.

What it means

For Soles de Mexicali, the win is a confidence booster and a reminder of how effective the team can be when its defense travels. A 92-70 road result in the LNBP carries weight, especially in a league where home-court advantage can shape the standings.

Abejas de Leon will need to regroup quickly. The loss highlighted the importance of efficient shot selection and ball security against aggressive defenses. Leon’s next outing will be an opportunity to restore rhythm and tighten the execution on both ends.
