The game was fast, open, and filled with momentum swings, but Voluntari’s ability to answer every Galati run proved decisive in the final quarter.

Voluntari set the tone early, taking the first quarter 25-22 and adding a 26-24 advantage in the second to lead 51-46 at halftime. Galati stayed close by attacking the basket and converting second-chance points, but Voluntari’s perimeter shooting and transition game kept them in front. Tactical story

Voluntari played with pace and purpose, pushing the ball in transition whenever Galati missed a shot. Their ball movement created open three-point looks, and their guards did a good job of penetrating and kicking out to shooters. Defensively, Voluntari were not always sharp, but they forced enough turnovers in the second half to stay in control.

Municipal Galati were effective inside and on the offensive glass, which kept them in the game. However, they struggled to contain Voluntari’s dribble penetration, and their rotations were a step slow in the fourth quarter. The visitors also missed several open looks from beyond the arc, which proved costly in a high-scoring contest.

Standout players

Andrei Mureșan led Voluntari with 26 points, including several clutch baskets in the fourth quarter. Vlad Popa added 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Ștefan Ionescu contributed 16 points and six assists. For Municipal Galati, Cătălin Stoica scored 24 points, Mihai Dinu added 18, and Alexandru Barbu finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Season impact

The win strengthens Voluntari’s home record in the Liga Nationala de Baschet Masculin and gives them confidence heading into the next stretch of fixtures. Municipal Galati will take positives from their offensive performance but will be frustrated by the defensive lapses that allowed Voluntari to break 100 points. Both teams remain in the thick of the early-season standings conversation.
