How Targu Mures built the win

The visitors controlled the glass and generated extra possessions with offensive rebounds, especially during the decisive third quarter. Their guards also did a good job of breaking Valcea's pressure and finding open shooters on the wing. Defensively, Targu Mures mixed man-to-man and zone looks, forcing Valcea into several contested three-point attempts in the closing minutes. When Valcea tried to speed the game up, Targu Mures slowed the tempo and made the hosts defend deep into the shot clock.

Standout performers

Targu Mures forward Andrei Popescu led the visitors with 22 points and several key rebounds in the second half. Guard Cristian Ionescu added 17 points and six assists, repeatedly breaking Valcea's pressure in transition. For Valcea, Mihai Dinu finished with a team-high 19 points, while the hosts' bench provided a useful spark in the second quarter but could not sustain that production after halftime.

Season impact

The win gives Targu Mures a confidence-building road result and strengthens their position in the Liga Nationala de Baschet Masculin table. Valcea, meanwhile, will look at the third-quarter lapses and late offensive possessions as the difference in a game that was closer than the final margin suggests. With the Romanian league schedule moving quickly, both teams will need to manage rotation minutes and defensive consistency in the coming fixtures.
