BCMUS Arges Pitesti won a high-scoring Liga Nationala de Baschet Masculin battle on October 17, 2026, defeating SCM Craiova 92-84. The home side used a balanced attack and a strong second-quarter run to take control, then held off every Craiova comeback attempt in the second half.

Match overview

Both teams came out shooting with confidence, and the first quarter was played at a frenetic pace. Craiova’s guards found early success from beyond the arc, while Pitesti attacked the rim and drew fouls. The game remained tight until the middle of the second quarter, when Pitesti pieced together a 12-2 run to build a cushion.

Craiova responded in the third quarter and cut the deficit to five, but Pitesti answered with timely three-point shooting and free throws. In the fourth, Pitesti slowed the game down and executed in the half court, denying Craiova the quick possessions it needed to complete a comeback.

Key moments

• Pitesti’s second-quarter run gave the home side a lead it never surrendered.
• A Craiova three-pointer cut the margin to five in the third, but Pitesti answered immediately.
• Pitesti’s free-throw shooting in the final three minutes sealed the result.

Tactical story

Pitesti’s offensive balance was the key. The home side had multiple players capable of creating shots, which made it difficult for Craiova to focus its defense on one scorer. Pitesti also did a better job on the offensive glass, generating extra possessions in the second half. Craiova’s defense forced turnovers but struggled to contain dribble penetration, and its late-game shot selection became rushed.

Standout performers

Pitesti guard Mihai Bădescu led all scorers with 24 points, while forward Andrei Mureșan added 19 points and nine rebounds. Craiova’s Tudor Gheorghe scored 20 points and kept his team within striking distance, but the visitors lacked enough support down the stretch.

What it means in the Liga Nationala de Baschet Masculin standings

The win is an important one for BCMUS Arges Pitesti in the Liga Nationala de Baschet Masculin standings and confirms the team’s ability to win shootouts as well as defensive battles. SCM Craiova will look to tighten its defense and improve its late-game execution. Both clubs remain firmly in the mix, but Pitesti’s home form is becoming a real asset.
