• Quarter scores: 8-29, 9-28, 7-27, 9-24
• Final score: Politehnica Timisoara Women 33, CS Teleorman Alexandria Women 108

Key moments

The decisive run came early. Teleorman opened the game with a 14-2 surge built on full-court pressure and quick transition baskets, forcing Politehnica into turnovers before their offense could organize. A second-quarter 12-0 run pushed the lead past 30 points, and the game’s competitive phase effectively ended before halftime.

Even with a rotated lineup in the second half, Teleorman maintained their defensive discipline. Politehnica found occasional success inside but could not string together stops, and Teleorman’s bench guards continued to push the tempo. The final quarter became a matter of managing minutes and preserving the commanding result.

Tactical story

Teleorman’s defensive game plan was clear: deny Politehnica clean entry passes, trap ball handlers on the wings, and turn every steal into a transition opportunity. That approach generated a steady stream of easy baskets and forced Politehnica into a high turnover count. On offense, Teleorman moved the ball sharply and attacked closeouts, finishing with a balanced scoring effort that reflected their control of the game.

Politehnica’s half-court offense struggled against length and pressure. When they did break the press, they often rushed shots or committed offensive fouls. The rebounding battle also favored Teleorman, limiting second-chance points and keeping Politehnica from building any momentum.

Standout players

• Andreea Popescu (Teleorman): 24 points, 6 assists, 5 steals — controlled the tempo and repeatedly broke the game open in transition.
• Ioana Munteanu (Teleorman): 18 points, 12 rebounds — dominated the paint and gave her team extra possessions.
• Cristina Radu (Teleorman): 14 points, 8 rebounds — efficient inside and active on the defensive glass.
• Diana Ionescu (Politehnica): 11 points — one of the few consistent offensive threats for the hosts.

Standings and season impact

The victory strengthens CS Teleorman Alexandria Women’s position in the Liga Nationala de Baschet Feminin standings and adds a significant head-to-head advantage over Politehnica Timisoara Women. For Politehnica, the result highlights the gap in depth and execution that must be addressed as the season progresses. Teleorman will look to carry the defensive intensity into their next fixture, while Politehnica face a quick reset and a search for more reliable half-court offense.
