Nanterre produced a composed and increasingly dominant home performance to defeat Cholet 86-69 in Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A action on October 25, 2026. The game was competitive through the first half, but Nanterre’s defense and second-half execution turned a tight contest into a comfortable 17-point win.

Match overview

Nanterre started with energy at both ends, using ball pressure to disrupt Cholet’s early sets. The hosts led by a narrow margin through much of the first quarter, but Cholet stayed within reach by attacking the offensive glass and drawing fouls. Nanterre held a 41-36 advantage at halftime, with neither side able to establish a decisive run.

The third quarter changed the shape of the game. Nanterre increased its defensive intensity, forced turnovers, and converted those mistakes into transition points. A 25-14 period gave the home side a 66-50 lead entering the fourth. Cholet attempted to respond with a small lineup and more three-point shooting, but Nanterre controlled the rebounds and closed out the game with steady free-throw shooting.

Key moments

The key stretch came midway through the third quarter, when Nanterre strung together a 14-2 run. It began with a steal and layup, followed by two offensive rebounds that produced second-chance points. Cholet’s offense stalled during that stretch, and the hosts’ lead quickly ballooned to 18 points.

Cholet made one final push early in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 12 with a pair of three-pointers, but Nanterre answered with a patient possession that ended in an and-one. That play settled the hosts and prevented any late drama.

Tactical story

Nanterre’s defensive discipline was the foundation of the win. The hosts forced 17 turnovers and limited Cholet’s clean looks from beyond the arc. Their help defense was particularly effective, with guards collapsing into the paint and then recovering to contest shooters. Nanterre also won the rebounding battle, which reduced Cholet’s second-chance opportunities.

Offensively, Nanterre shared the ball well and attacked mismatches. The hosts repeatedly used ball screens to force switches, then either drove against slower defenders or found open shooters on the perimeter. Their bench provided energy and scoring, allowing the starters to remain fresh for the decisive third-quarter run.

Standout performers

• Amadou Cissé led Nanterre with 21 points and nine rebounds, anchoring the inside game.
• Jules Roux added 16 points, including three three-pointers, and consistently punished Cholet’s help defense.
• Kévin Ndiaye contributed 12 points and six assists, setting the tone with his on-ball pressure.
• Mathis Girault scored 15 points for Cholet, but the visitors struggled to find consistent secondary scoring.

Season impact

The 86-69 result strengthens Nanterre’s position in the Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A standings and reinforces their reputation as a difficult team to beat at home. The balanced scoring and defensive control will be encouraging for the coaching staff, especially with a demanding schedule ahead. For Cholet, the loss serves as a reminder that turnovers and cold stretches on the road can quickly turn a close game into a difficult defeat. Nanterre will look to build on the win, while Cholet must regroup and find more offensive rhythm in their next outing.
