Match overview

• Competition: Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A (Betclic Elite)
• Date: 18 October 2026
• Final score: Gravelines-Dunkerque 83-92 Dijon
• Venue: Sportica, Gravelines
• Winner: Dijon

Gravelines-Dunkerque started brightly in front of their home crowd, leading 22-20 after the first quarter behind aggressive drives and early three-point shooting. Dijon responded before halftime, moving the ball efficiently and taking a 45-42 lead into the break. The game remained tight through three quarters, with Dijon holding a 70-68 edge before pulling away with a 22-15 closing period.

How Dijon won it

Dijon's half-court offense found rhythm in the second and third quarters. The visitors used ball screens to create mismatches, attacked closeouts with decisive drives, and kept Gravelines-Dunkerque guessing with timely cuts from the wings. When the home side collapsed into the paint, Dijon made the extra pass and converted open perimeter shots.

The fourth quarter belonged to Dijon's execution. The visitors protected the ball, slowed the tempo when needed, and converted at the free-throw line down the stretch. Gravelines-Dunkerque remained within striking distance but could not string together the defensive stops required to complete a comeback.

Key moments

• First-quarter punch: Gravelines-Dunkerque opened with energy and led 22-20 after ten minutes.
• Dijon's response: The visitors closed the second quarter on a 9-3 run to take a 45-42 halftime lead.
• Third-quarter separation: Dijon used a 10-0 surge to build a narrow but controlling advantage entering the final period.
• Late execution: After Gravelines cut the deficit to 78-76, Dijon answered with a 7-0 run and sealed the win at the free-throw line.

Tactical story: balance versus isolation

Dijon's balanced attack proved difficult to defend. The visitors shared the ball effectively, generated secondary assists, and punished Gravelines-Dunkerque whenever the home defense rotated late. Dijon's bench also provided valuable minutes, maintaining defensive intensity and keeping the starters fresh for the closing stretch.

Gravelines-Dunkerque relied more heavily on isolated drives and individual shot creation. That approach produced enough early points to stay close, but it became less effective as Dijon tightened its help defense and forced contested attempts in the fourth quarter. The home side's turnovers and missed free throws in the final minutes further limited their comeback chances.

Standout performers

Dijon's backcourt controlled the pace and made key decisions in the fourth quarter. The visiting captain provided leadership on both ends, while Dijon's interior players protected the rim and finished through contact. Gravelines-Dunkerque's guards kept the home side competitive with timely shot-making, but Dijon's collective depth and late-game poise ultimately made the difference.

Season impact

The road win boosts Dijon's playoff credentials in the Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A standings and reinforces their ability to close out tight games away from home. For Gravelines-Dunkerque, the loss is a missed opportunity to protect home court, though the performance showed enough offensive promise to suggest they can respond in upcoming fixtures.

Dijon will look to build on the result as the Betclic Elite season progresses, while Gravelines-Dunkerque must tighten their late-game defense and rebounding. In a league where road victories carry significant weight, Dijon's 92-83 success at Sportica could prove valuable when the final standings are assessed.
